Usability QA With Smart Home Devices

Usability QA With Smart Home Devices

By Jon Siswick-Clark

Smart Home devices are still a relatively new form of tech, but the market is now being flooded as the demand for Smart Home products is increasing at an exponential rate. While many such products are innovative and of high quality, many are lagging behind their competitors. While the actual "smart" device may be well designed and manufactured, the accompanying web or mobile apps are often severely lacking in several key areas. This negatively impacts the end-user experience and can be the deciding factor between a product's success or failure.

Smart Home devices range from light switches, thermostats, security systems and even fully functioning robots. Smart technology is being implemented pretty much everywhere in the home right now, and this trend shows no sign of slowing. While the diversity of Smart Home products varies quite considerably, a key factor in its overall success must be "usability". In a highly-competitive market place, any product that is not intuitive to use, the customer will simply switch to a competitor's product... fact!

Traditional usability testing will be isolated to a specific web app or mobile app. However, with smart home devices, usability testing must encompass the entire product, i.e. the device itself and its accompanying apps. For smart home devices that have been usability tested to a high level, this will result in the user having a positive experience while using the product.

A good QA company will evaluate a smart home device and its associated web or mobile apps along with any supporting documentation. From there, appropriate test approaches and methodologies can be defined and documented into a formal test plan. An optional suite of test cases will then often be designed. Many usability issues are often seen during the on boarding process. As this is the area that is used to typically set-up a new smart home device, it is of paramount importance that the user has a positive experience here.

By methodically working through not only the on-boarding, but all end-user workflows, user scenarios, supporting help/documentation etc. the testing can discover all usability issues which can be clearly documented for all product stakeholders to evaluate. The development team can then work with the usability defect reports to resolve the issues. Usability testing should ideally be performed before the product is launched, however as most smart home devices and their associated apps can be upgraded with new firmware/software updates, usability testing can also be highly effective after the product's initial launch. http://www.testing4success.com is one of the leading QA providers in North America. We have the knowledge and experience to ensure that your Web, Mobile, Smart Device or Wearable Tech product can be released with total confidence. Structured Snippets - How To Get The Best Results

Structured Snippets - How To Get The Best Results

By Vaibhav Srivastava

Now, you could use the structured snippet extension from the Google to highlight certain feature of your products and services.

This extension was rolled out in August 2015, and these were aimed to offer the customers a better sense of your website's content, before they click on the ad.

And it doesn't matter whether you wish to list the finest pieces of your glassworks or eminent shoe brands, these dynamic snippets turn your ads more relevant and cooperative, apart from backing your campaign management and saving your time.

But how do they work?

Well, these extensions are situated beneath the text ads as a 'header and a list of attributes'.

When these appear with your ad, they can show up to 2 headers on a computer at a time. Against this, the ads on the tablets and mobiles show only a single header.

Google AdWords would automatically decide the best header or a combo of the headers to display.

But the major question that rolls out here is- what's the difference between structured snippets and callouts?

Well, if you obey Google's words, callouts are used to highlight the elements that make your products and services exclusive, while structured snippets highlight only a specific attribute of the services or products you offer.

Additionally, you need to know that you could use both of these together, but with the caution that you do not duplicate the highlighted content.

Benefits of Structured Snippets:

Structured snippets have a character limit of 25. And these have certain benefits such as:

Helping customers search their best products and services instantaneously

 Enhancing your ROI

Helping you customize your ads as per the date and time etc.

How To Receive The Best Benefits:

With these marketing elements, you could follow the following best practices to create or optimize your content:

Offer at least 4 values per header

Shorter-snippets, so that they are easier for the mobile users

Provide more than just a single header-value set, which enhances the chances of your ad being shown

Choose the correct format. For instance, in these, you can highlight a complete group of your products and/or services.

But again, while using structured snippets, there are some necessary requirements which you need to keep track of.

So for all those who were working to maintain their Google Ads and get results out of the same, Structured Snippets could be a real healthy aspect for you. Just follow the Google's guidelines and you could get the healthiest returns on your ad investments.

The Enlightenment

The Enlightenment

By Martin Hahn

The Enlightenment was both a state and a movement of mind. The term represents a stage in the intellectual heritage of Europe, it also serves to explain programs of change where important literati, inspired by the same faith in the chance of a far better world, outlined particular targets for proposals and criticism for action.

The specific significance of the Enlightenment is based on its blend of pragmatism and principle. Consequently, it nevertheless engenders controversy about its achievements and character and two major questions relating to each, two schools of thought may be identified. Was the Enlightenment the sustain of an elite, centred on Paris, or perhaps an extensive current of opinion which the philosophies, to some extent, represented and also led? Was it mainly a French campaign, having consequently an amount of coherence, or even a worldwide phenomenon, having so many facets as there was countries affected? Although the majority of contemporary interpreters incline towards the latter view in both instances, there's still a situation just for the French emphasis, because of the wizard of a selection of the philosophies and the associates of theirs.

Unlike any other terminology used by historians for describing a phenomenon which they get a lot more clearly than might contemporaries, it was utilized and cherished by people who considered in the strength of mind to liberate as well as improve. Bernard de Fontenelle, popularizer of the scientific breakthroughs which contributed to the weather of confidence, wrote in 1702 anticipating "a century which will become much more enlightened day time by day time, so that all previous centuries will be forfeited in darkness by comparison." Reviewing the adventure in 1784, Immanuel Kant saw an emancipation from ignorance and superstition as having been the vital attribute of the Enlightenment.

Before Kant's demise the spirit of the 'century of the Enlightened' were definitely spurned by Romantic idealists, the confidence of it in a male's sense of what was good and right mocked by groundbreaking terror and dictatorship, and its rationalism decried as being complacent or perhaps downright inhumane. Even its achievements had been critically endangered by the militant nationalism of the 19th century. Yet a lot of the tenor of the Enlightenment did endure in the liberalism, toleration, and respect for law which have persisted in European culture. Generally there was consequently no abrupt end or perhaps reversal of enlightened values.

The propaganda and perceptions of the philosophies have led historians to find the Age of Reason within the 18th century or perhaps, more adequately, between the two revolutions - the English of 1688 as well as the French of 1789 - but in conception it ought to be traced to the humanism of the Renaissance, which encouraged scholarly curiosity in Classical texts and values. It was created by the complementary techniques of the Scientific Revolution, the logical and also the empirical. Its adolescence is owned by the 2 years before as well as after 1700 when authors like Jonathan Swift had been employing "the artillery of words" to wow the secular intelligentsia produced by the development in affluence, literacy, and posting. Ideas and values have been tested anywhere research and reason may challenge conventional authority.

Why Most Self-Taught Guitarists Do Not Become Great - Part 1

Why Most Self-Taught Guitarists Do Not Become Great - Part 1

By T. Hess

As a self-taught guitarist, you hold yourself back from becoming great by not having effective practice habits. Not having correct practice habits makes your musical progress unpredictable and slow.

Most self-taught guitar players unknowingly take on the exact opposite of good habits and their playing suffers for a long time. Here are some of good habits that you need to get into to avoid getting stuck like them:

Good Habit #1: Focusing The Right Things At The Right Time

Many guitar players have the bad habit of repeating a difficult lick over and over. They believe that using this approach will eventually fix their mistakes. Instead, they end up wasting tons of practice time only to get minimal results if any. A much more effective practicing approach is to focus only on the specific notes that are giving you trouble. You don't need to continually repeat the other notes because you've already mastered them. Isolating your mistakes like this makes it easy to quickly identify where your playing is breaking down. This way your practice time is used only to correct these things (making it much more efficient).

Good Habit #2: Don't Make Things Harder Than They Need To Be

Self-taught guitarists often learn or form habits that are ineffective and frustrating. Since they learn on their own, these bad habits solidify over time. Doing this holds you back from becoming a better player and forces you to correct your technique from the ground up if you want to make progress. Common examples include: using incorrect/inefficient fretting, exclusively using alternate picking, not muting string noise effectively, and much more. When you make things easier on yourself by learning correct playing habits you save tons of practice time and get better faster.

Good Habit #3: Asking The Correct Questions

Guitarists who learn by themselves frequently ask the wrong questions when it comes to getting better. This leads them down the wrong path, which takes them longer to see any results. Guitar players who make the fastest progress ask themselves specific, high quality questions that get them the exact results they want as fast as possible. If you are not sure which questions to ask, the best approach is to find an experienced guitar teacher to work with. This teacher should already have helped many others achieve your musical goals - letting you know that they understand the right questions you should be asking to do so.

One Bad Decision Can Cost a Hospital Millions

One Bad Decision Can Cost a Hospital Millions

By John Hammond

Things can go wrong without the right team in place

I recently read an article that was attempting to explain the cost overrun experienced by a hospital during the launch of their new EMR. The article was clear on what caused the overrun but failed to communicate why the decision was made that created the cause.

In many hospitals, emotions can run high fueled by attitudes of resistance to change. The pressures and stress associated with go-live can be a challenge to manage; however, allowing those forces to affect decision-making can have lasting adverse financial effects. When all planning, budget, constraints, and common sense that should be applied are set aside, you can almost always expect the worse. It may feel like appeasement is the right thing to do to relieve the stress, but it may not be the best thing. Sticking to the plan, and staying within the budget should always be the guiding factor that drives decisions even when the pressure is great.

It's unfortunate, but some decisions are based on problems that may not exist at all but are only perceived based on excessive negativity. Having an experienced team in place that can help make decisions based on fact is vital.

Negotiating Skills Do Pay Off!

When doing logistics, treat it like it's your money

Getting one of the best hotels in the city to give you the lowest rate with great concessions is excellent. In this agreement, the hotel managed the flight itineraries and provided transportation to and from the airport. They supplied one large conference room for orientation and then surprised us in the contract with a complimentary welcome reception for 120 guests with heavy hors-d'oeuvres. Provided two fifty-six seat luxury buses and several shuttles to transport consultants to the training facility and back. They also agreed to use their shuttles to take those consultants that worked within two miles of hotel to work and back each day. Everything listed above was in the price of the rooms $105.09 with tax. Note, this took a huge burden off the consulting firm, and the savings were passed on to the hospital.

When a hospital hires a consulting firm, that consulting company should put forth all effort to save money, not spend money. Creating a positive cost variance (CV) indicates the consulting firm is in fact on your team. Negotiating for the best price is good, but getting the most value for the lowest price is better.

Consultants Saved the Day!

Good consultants can mean the difference between success and failure

I sat in an auditorium with over three hundred consultants when the speaker invited to the podium the senior implementation project manager. "Dr. So and So has overseen the EMR implementation of nineteen plus hospitals please give him a round of applause." Wow, nineteen projects that's impressive. However, it turned out to be a challenging project in many areas but mainly with significant workflow issues.

Although it is confusing why this happens, it is clear the leadership was out of touch. Seeking someone with excellent qualifications can be attractive for any hospital, but having someone with the insight that can eliminate problems before they exist is priceless. I am not sure why this project manager didn't know this.

Fortunate for everyone the consultants came with the experience and knowledge necessary to handle these types of issues. Jumping into action and based on past experiences they began the process of educating the staff and leadership on what works. This go-live would have never survived without the tremendous efforts of the consultant.

Having an experienced team in place that can help make decisions based on fact is vital. CompTask Consulting's desire is never to increase resources but to help you find ways to decrease. We negotiate on your behalf. We also serve as a liaison between you and your next contractor. My name is John Hammond CEO and Founder CompTask Consulting. http://www.comptaskconsulting.com

You can run Artisan commands to perform common web development tasks and optimize the performance of the Laravel applications. At the same time, Laravel allows you to create custom commands according to your precise needs. You even have option to create a new custom command by running an existing Artisan command - make:command.

4) Eloquent ORM

Laravel comes with a built-in object relational mapper (ORM) system - Eloquent. You can use Eloquent ORM to work with multiple databases and perform common database operations. While using Eloquent ORM, you can work with multiple databases efficiently through ActiveRecord implementation. Likewise, you can take advantage of models to perform common database operations without writing lengthy SQL queries. The database migration tool provided by Laravel further simplifies the process of synchronizing multiple databases running on different systems.

5) Blade Template Engine

As Laravel supports model-view-controller (MVC) programming paradigm, you can develop complex web applications rapidly by keeping their user interface and business logic layers separates. At the same time, the Blade template engine will help you compile all views into PHP code, include PHP code in the views, and cache the PHP code till the views remain unchanged. You can even take advantage of Blade template engine to display data and extend layouts without affecting the Laravel application's performance.

6) RESTful Routing

In addition to simplifying web application development, Laravel facilitates web service development by supporting RESTful routing. You can use the PHP framework to build web services based on REST architecture. The feature enables you to make the web application interact with other applications and services through an open protocol like HTTP. Further, you can simplify web services development by leveraging HTTP methods like GET, POST, PUT and DELETE.

7) Unit Testing

While using Laravel, you can perform unit testing with PHPUnit. PHPUnit makes it easier for you to test specific features or functionalities of the web application by performing unit testing throughout the development process. At the same time, Laravel enables you to perform unit testing simply by writing test cases and defining custom test methods. Hence, you can write and execute test cases easily according to specific testing requirements.

8) Authentication Library

The authentication library provided by Laravel helps you to keep the web applications secure by implementing a variety of authentication. You can even control and manage individual authentication services simply by making changes to the authentication configuration file. Also, you can avail the security features provided by the authentication library to encrypt data, create login pages, and prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF).

9) Caching System

In addition to providing a basic caching system, Laravel also supports widely used caching systems like Redis, Memcached and APC. You can take advantage of the basic caching system to store objects in a database or file. Also, you can run specific Artisan commands to cache both configuration and routes. At the same time, you can easily speed up the Laravel application by replacing the basic caching system with a robust third-party caching system like Redis or Memcached.

10) Multiple File System

The version 5 of Laravel came with native support for multiple file system. You can use third-party packages to work with multiple file system seamlessly. Laravel even allows you to customize the configuration through different options - config.php and filesystem.php. You even have option to customize the configuration through both local and cloud-based storage. The native multiple file system support makes it easier for you to keep the APIs consistent by choosing the right drive.

11) API Development

The latest version of Laravel simplifies API development by resource classes. While writing APIs, you can leverage the resource classes to link Eloquent models and JSON requests without creating an additional transformation layer. The resource classes further enable you to convert models and model collections into JSON without requiring an additional transformation layer.

12) On-Demand Notifications

Laravel 5.5 allows you to send on-demand notifications to individuals who are accessing the web application without registration. These individuals normally access the web application without signing in as users. Laravel developers can invoke the Notification::route method to send on-demand notifications through the web application to such users simply by defining the custom ad-hoc notification routing information.

The robust features and tools provided by Laravel make it easier for you to build custom web applications according to varying business requirements. The additional features often impact the performance of Laravel applications adversely. Hence, you have to implement a number of performance optimization techniques to boost the application's speed and user experience. But Laravel has been evolving consistently to meet the emerging web application development trends. You can always accelerate custom web application development by availing the new features and enhancements included in the latest version of Laravel.

They take their spaceship into under the ocean and enter into the stomach of a whale to hide for a while. While in the stomach of the whale, they catch a lot of fishes so that the whale always gets hungry. The whale feels that keeping them is taking a toll on his daily need of food supply so he decides to blow them out and get rid of them.

They encounter a submarine that captures them. But, they manage to shrink the scientists and escape. The submarine keeps on searching for them after they have escaped. They try to camouflage the spaceship into different marine creatures to prevent being spotted by the submarine.

Later, Jim and Louis come up with a plan to zap the submarine. The submarine and everyone in it have been shrunk. Though they are shrunk, they are still alive.

They kept them in the city model housed on their spaceship. Finally, they decide it is time for them to take off into the outer space. They stay in the outer space and wander around for a long time.

The jewel short story tells the story of Jim Roberts who build a sparkling spaceship with the jewels he has stolen. He goes around the world zapping monuments and also zap a submarine.

Clement Attlee

Clement Attlee

By Martin Hahn

Born to a middle class family in London, Clement Attlee studied at Oxford Faculty, and then taught as a lawyer. He went on to handle Haileybury House, a charitable youth organisation in Limehouse, East London. This experience clearly had a deep impact on Attlee, whose political perspectives were formed by the poverty he witnessed in London's East End, and in 1908, the Independent Labour Party was joined by him. Upon the start of the very first World War, he put on for a Commission and served as a Captain. The reputation of his as a highly effective, efficient leader gained him the rank of Major, a name which would remain with him beyond the military life of his.

On going back from the war, Attlee moved into politics, getting Mayor of Stepney in 1919 and MP for Limehouse in 1922. He continued to move up the ranks within the Labour Party, and was elected the leader in 1935, using the resignation of George Lansbury. During the next World War, he was called into Winston Churchill's coalition government, obviously having the name of Deputy Prime Minister from 1942 to 1945. When a general election was organized at the peak of the battle in Europe, Attlee led the Labour Party to an amazing landslide victory, winning 393 seats to the Conservative's 213, along with forty eight percent of the public vote.

The period of his as Prime Minister was among extreme activity. The notoriously blunt, fairly quiet male was nonetheless extremely great at fast, decisive action. Although when the Prime Minister had let his Cabinet voice the opinions of theirs, he'd quickly make decisions with military precision, the leadership style of his was apparently collective. As a result, nearly all of Labour 's manifesto pledges have been implemented under Attlee. Regardless of the Second World War leaving Britain successfully bankrupt, he managed the development of the National Health Service, as part of the Welfare State which desired to provide' cradle to the grave' care of British people. Moreover, a lot of Britain's largest industries - including the railways, electricity, and coal mining - have been brought under state management, despite recurring currency crises and shortages of resources and food so severe that rationing must be taken care of long after the battle.

Attlee's time as Prime Minister also discovered intensive foreign policy actions. He placed excellent confidence in Ernest Bevin, the Foreign Secretary of his, and together they oversaw Indian independence, American loans and' Marshall Aid' because of the rebuilding of Western Europe and Britain, the Berlin airlift and Britain's resolve for the United Nations.

In the 1950 General Election Labour lost the majority of it, and also by the time of the defeat in the general election of 1951, the Labour authorities had worked itself to near exhaustion. Attlee, nonetheless, carried on to direct the Labour party until 1955, and died in 1967, aged eighty four.

Of all time, more than a single survey of academics has voted Attlee the best British Prime Minister.

Friedrich Ebert

Friedrich Ebert

By Martin Hahn

Friedrich Ebert played an extremely important role in the story of German democracy. As the first ever democratically elected president of Germany, and also as the leader of the Social Democratic campaign, he made seminal efforts in getting about the Weimar constitution that turned Germany into a republic at first chance and then attempted to unite it after the defeat in World War I. He was president of the Weimar Republic from 1919 until the death of his in 1925.

Ebert was born in Heidelberg in 1871. He mastered the saddler's industry and traveled through Germany as a journeyman saddler. He quickly evolved into a Social Democrat plus unionist, representing the so called revisionist - gradualist, liberal - "trade union" wing of the party which was much less active in the ideological struggles of Marxism. His focus was always directed toward pragmatic enhancement within the existing conditions of the German working class and, above many, its personal betterment.

In 1905 Ebert became secretary general of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD) and also in 1913 succeeded August Bebel as party chairman. By the precious time he was chairman, the SPD was started as a serious democratic force, despite years of repression and continuing harassment from the ultra conservative powers in Germany.

Under the leadership of his, increasing influence in German national politics were gained by the Social Democratic movement. But he couldn't hold the whole party to the course of his for long. In March 1917 a left wing faction left the party to be the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD), hard rejecting Germany's battle policy. Another team split from the SPD to develop the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). The leftists that had withdrawn from the SPD desired a cultural revolution, while The majority and friedrich Ebert of his party needed to build a German parliamentary democracy. In the midst of the battle, the Catholic Centre Party, the Democratic Party (previously the Progressive Party), and the Social Democrats had created the so-called Weimar coalition to push for a change of the monarchy.

With Ebert's effective cooperation, a brand new government, headed by Prince Max of Baden as well as that comprise of the 3 people of the Weimar coalition, was structured in October 1918 by way of a sweeping constitutional reform that in important aspects foreshadowed the Weimar Constitution. Thus, Germany wouldn't have required a revolution to attain parliamentary democratic change, as well as Ebert did almost everything he might to avoid such a revolution from happening. He was fearful of the usually brutal effects of revolutions and of the tyranny of extremists groups, as mirrored in the statement of his at the level of the unavoidable revolution:

"Without democracy there's absolutely no freedom. Violence, no matter who's using it, is constantly reactionary."

The revolution came 3 times before the armistice. It triumphed in Berlin on November nine, and also on the same day Prince Max of Baden, acting on his power, requested Friedrich Ebert to replace him as chancellor. Ebert in fact held office as chancellor underneath the empirial constitution for 1 day. On November ten he yielded to the fait accompli of the revolution and also create an entirely Socialist government, with reps from the SPD as well as USPD. Ebert was motivated to put the energy of the groundbreaking government quickly in the hands of a freely elected German parliament. He desired to visit a legitimately elected coalition government in strength instead of a Socialist regime.

The elections of January 1919 gave the Weimar coalition a sweeping victory with a vast majority of eighty five percent, showing the solid support of the German folks for Ebert's place. The brand new German constitution, the Weimar Constitution, so named after the city where it was pulled up, was the job of the coalition. By the votes on the 3 people developing the coalition, Ebert was elected the 1st president of the republic.

Still with the elections to the republic's very first parliament on June six, 1920, the Weimar coalition lost its bulk and was never to restore it. The Social Democratic Party thereby lost its commanding place in the Reich, and also the political constellation where Ebert's leadership was based dissolved. The electoral defeat became a direct consequence of the Treaty of Versailles. At that time many Germans were convinced the peace of Versailles targeted at the damage of Germany. The ensuing loss in confidence in the ruling democratic people was the death blow of the Weimar republic.

Reactionary forces, especially groups loyal to the German army, continued to systematically weaken Ebert's energy to reconcile the politically split German modern society and treated him with outright hostility. The efforts of his to keep the struggling fragile democracy afloat found no assistance of the German right, that ultimately succeeded in their attempt to abolish democracy with sad effects.

The judgement associated with a German court, which ruled Ebert had dedicated high treason, at minimum in the legal sense, during the battle by the support of his of any munition workers' hit, contributed to the early death of his in 1925.

To be able to honor his steadfast think in democracy, peace and freedom, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung was established shortly after the death of his. Building on the experience of his, the foundation offers a triple aim:

- to further a political society dependent on pluralism and democracy using civic training for every strata of German culture.

- to facilitate a chance to access advanced schooling for gifted kids from the less advantaged organizations of the German public by means of scholarships,

- and also to contribute to international cooperation and understanding wherever feasible as a safeguard against completely new conflicts and wars.

Mad Max: Fury Road Relationship Between Max and Furiosa

Mad Max: Fury Road Relationship Between Max and Furiosa

By Jeremiah Otieno Odhiambo

Mad Max Fury Road is a story that involves two people by the name Max and Furiosa who are held captive and are trying to escape from Hamlet. Max is suffering outrageous fortunes but he is learning from the fortunes while Furiosa has decided to oppose her troubles by taking arms against the leaders of Hamlet. The two characters cannot trust each other at first but due to their circumstances they are forced to rely on each other. Love is humanized in the film where much deeper conventions of love are stricken. Max is a loner and a survivor who has been traumatized in a world where people see him as a blood bag. On the contrary Furiosa is scheming a plan to help five women who have been enslaved in Hamlet. Max does not trust Furiosa and in most parts of the film he holds a gun on her.

In the middle of these desperate attempts to escape from their chasers Max and Furiosa are forced to depend on each other. In many love stories people fall in love due to opportunities provided by circumstances. The alignment of stars and personal chemistry makes this happen. Every step of the relationship between Max and Furiosa is dictated by their circumstances where the only choice they are left with is to depend and rely on each other and to trust each other in order to escape. In a critical scene Furiosa asks Max his name but he refuses to tell her. In the end Max finally tells Furiosa his name where there are significant happenings throughout the film. These moments appear and vanish in the film through chaos and apocalyptic alienation. Max and Furiosa form an alliance where they try to fight motorcycles that are shooting at them. He leaves her to go to a mission which may be fatal but fears no one would notice if he dies in the mission. Max talks Furiosa out of a suicide mission when he says "you know hope is a mistake". Max eventually decides hope is not a mistake and went back to Furiosa where he joins her and they plan to oppose the forces against them.

At the end of the film Max does not stay with Furiosa but he leaves and eventually disappears into the crowd. A modern viewer can resonate with this film in that modern man is alienated from himself, from the world and from fellow men. Everyone is alone, with a deep sense of insecurity, guilt and anxieties which are results of separation that cannot be overcome. Like Max lost his identity in the opening moments, man has lost his identity too, and is overcome by powerful forces that own him. Like Furiosa man tries to search for a community and the only thing he finds is a desert.

Basic Principles of 3D Animation

Basic Principles of 3D Animation

By Paul Nandrajog

65% of people are considered visual learners. This is easy to understand considering that most information (90%) that is transmitted to the brain is visual. It also transmits visual information much faster (60,000 times faster) than text. It is therefore not surprising that videos are the most popular medium for communication and engagement currently available online.

The Rise of 3D Animation

It's getting harder for brands to cut through the noise and get their message across to their target audience. There are so many videos available online today. You need to have something extra to get noticed. This is where animated 3D content comes in.

Animated audiovisual content has been shown to be very effective in influencing the choices of consumers in the later stages of their purchasing journey. There are several reasons that this type of content is more effective than other visuals.

Animated videos are effective at grabbing and keeping the viewer's attention. They resonate with viewers and spark conversations amongst audiences.

Brands are better able to simplify complex topics through animation. You are able to show various concepts using a 3D simulation that would otherwise be impossible with other visuals.

Visualizations are a powerful way to convey a technology or product and show their features and benefits.

They are fun.

They can be about anything.

They are cost effective to produce.

Principles for successful 3D Animation

Just because the animated audiovisual content is so popular doesn't mean that your explainer video simulation will be an instant hit with your audience. There are various guidelines to consider in the production of audiovisual content to ensure its success.

Quality and photorealistic Animations- Creating a quality 3D animation is crucial to giving it a photorealistic feel which brings it to life. This takes more details, attention to lighting and using realistic materials and even adding in reflections on to the surface of the object.

Anticipation - This principle helps the viewer expect a movement even before it occurs, for example, the heel of the character's foot pressing down on the ground before taking the step. Anticipation helps to prevent audiovisual content animation from appearing too robotic.

Exaggeration - This is used in animation to give more energy to the characters. Exaggeration, for instance, can be used in poses to draw attention to what the character is doing.

Staging - This principle involves the placement of objects and characters in the video. It helps the audience to understand the narrative and the role of the characters in it. It involves timing, setting, and cinematography.

Timing - Timing is vital as it dictates how fast images move and how long they stay still in the animated video. Speeding something up can help to create a sense of energy, lightness, or speed. Slowing something down gives the impression of gravity, mass, and adds weight to the image.

Solid drawing - This is the principle used to make an image appear as if it were three dimensional even though it has been created on a two-dimensional surface. This principle gives weight, balance, and depth to the image.

These are just a few of the basic principles required for successful 3D animation. Bitcoin Thrives Against All Odds

Bitcoin Thrives Against All Odds

By Ian King

Since it's currently en vogue right now, I'd like to announce that I'm launching my own cryptocurrency next week.

Let's call it "kingcoin."

Nah, that's too self-serving.

How about "muttcoin"? I've always had a soft spot for mixed breeds.

Yeah, that's perfect - everybody loves dogs.

This is going to be the biggest thing since fidget spinners.

Congrats! Everyone reading this is going to receive one muttcoin when my new coin launches next week.

I'm going to evenly distribute 1 million muttcoins. Feel free to spend them wherever you like (or wherever anyone will accept them!).

What's that? The cashier at Target said they wouldn't accept our muttcoin?

Tell those doubters that muttcoin has scarcity value - there will only ever be 1 million muttcoins in existence. On top of that, it's backed by the full faith and credit of my desktop computer's 8 GB of RAM.

Also, remind them that a decade ago, a bitcoin couldn't even buy you a pack of chewing gum. Now one bitcoin can buy a lifetime supply.

And, like bitcoin, you can store muttcoin safely offline away from hackers and thieves.

It's basically an exact replica of bitcoin's properties. Muttcoin has a decentralized ledger with impossible-to-crack cryptography, and all transactions are immutable.

Still not convinced our muttcoins will be worth billions in the future?

Well, it's understandable. The fact is, launching a new cryptocurrency is much harder than it appears, if not downright impossible.

That's why I believe bitcoin has reached these heights against all odds. And because of its unique user network, it will continue to do so.

Sure, there have been setbacks. But each of these setbacks has eventually resulted in higher prices. The recent 60% plunge will be no different.

The Miracle of Bitcoin

Bitcoin's success rests in its ability to create a global network of users who are either willing to transact with it now or store it for later. Future prices will be determined by the pace that the network grows.

Even in the face of wild price swings, bitcoin adoption continues to grow at an exponential rate. There are now 23 million wallets open globally, chasing 21 million bitcoins. In a few years, the number of wallets can rise to include the 5 billion people on the planet connected to the internet.

Sometimes the new crypto converts' motivation was speculative; other times they were seeking a store of value away from their own domestic currency. In the last year, new applications such as Coinbase have made it even easier to onboard new users.

If you haven't noticed, when people buy bitcoin, they talk about it. We all have that friend who bought bitcoin and then wouldn't shut up about it. Yes, I'm guilty of this - and I'm sure quite a few readers are too.

Perhaps subconsciously, holders become crypto-evangelists since convincing others to buy serves their own self-interest of increasing the value of their holdings.

Bitcoin evangelizing - spreading the good word - is what miraculously led to a price ascent from $0.001 to a recent price of $10,000.

Who could have imagined that its pseudonymous creator, fed up with the global banking oligopoly, launched an intangible digital resource that rivaled the value of the world's largest currencies in less than a decade?

No religion, political movement or technology has ever witnessed these growth rates. Then again, humanity has never been as connected.

The Idea of Money

Bitcoin started as an idea. To be clear, all money - whether it's shell money used by primitive islanders, a bar of gold or a U.S. dollar - started as an idea. It's the idea that a network of users value it equally and would be willing to part with something of equal value for your form of money.

Money has no intrinsic value; its value is purely extrinsic - only what others think it's worth.

Take a look at the dollar in your pocket - it's just a fancy piece of paper with a one-eyed pyramid, a stipple portrait and signatures of important people.

In order to be useful, society must view it as a unit of account, and merchants must be willing to accept it as payment for goods and services.

Bitcoin has demonstrated an uncanny ability to reach and connect a network of millions of users.

One bitcoin is only worth what the next person is willing pay for it. But if the network continues to expand at an exponential rate, the limited supply argues that prices can only move in one direction... higher.

The Bottom Line

Bitcoin's nine-year ascent has been marked with enormous bouts of volatility. Therewas an 85% correction in January 2015, and a few others over 60%, including a colossal 93% drawdown in 2011.

Through each of these corrections, however, the network (as measured by number of wallets) continued to expand at a rapid pace. As some speculators saw their value decimated, new investors on the margin saw value and became buyers.

The abnormal levels of volatility are actually what helped the bitcoin network grow to 23 million users.

Hey, maybe we just need some price volatility in muttcoin to attract new users...

The Pencil Man

The Pencil Man

By James D Sutton

I recently read something that emphasized the value and importance of dignity in a person's life, and the importance of sharing it often with our young people. It caused me to recall something I experienced many years ago.

On Houston Street

As a student going to junior college in San Antonio, I had a part-time job working downtown. Weather permitting, I always saw a familiar figure setting up his tiny spot on Houston Street as I walked to my work from the parking lot.

This man had no legs. He was upbeat and engaging as he set out a cup on a folded blanket and filled it with new pencils. He then put out another cup to receive the kindnesses of those passing by.

I don't remember him ever asking for anything. I suppose folks just knew the drill: Help the man; take a pencil. If someone put something in his cup and didn't take a pencil, he generally made it a point to offer them one. Sometimes he would grab eye contact with a passerby, hold out a pencil, and ask, "Can you use a pencil today?"

And that was the extend of his sales pitch. As it appeared, it was the only sales pitch he needed.

He had his "regulars," of course; most of them knew him by name. Sometimes one of them would bring him a cup of coffee or a donut. For this gesture they received his thanks and... you guessed it, a new pencil.

Giving Something Back

One day a man gave his young daughter some money for the pencil man. She put it in his cup and accepted the pencil he offered.

"Daddy, why is he selling pencils?" she asked, as they continued on their way.

"Well, he's not really selling them, Becky," Dad explained. "What you put in his cup back there was worth much more than that pencil. But when you helped him, he wanted to give something back to you. In this case it was that pencil. He wanted to show his appreciation to you because he's a nice person, but also because it's important for his dignity. It's important for us all to keep our dignity. Do you understand?"

As she nodded in response, Becky held up the yellow pencil and watched it catch the glint of the morning's sun.

"Daddy, I think I know another reason why he gives out pencils."

"And what would that be?"

"Well, it's because he knows that no one ever throws away a perfectly good pencil."###

The Dollar Could Easily Get Stronger

The Dollar Could Easily Get Stronger

By Ian Dyer

Ever since the start of 2017, the dollar has been in an almost constant decline.

In fact, the PowerShares DB U.S. Dollar Bullish ETF (NYSE: UUP) has dropped over 12% from its 2017 highs, despite a 2% gain.

UUP is an exchange-traded fund that measures the dollar against six other currencies. When the dollar strengthens relative to the others, the price of UUP goes up.

Generally, the dollar is seen as a safe haven, somewhere for investors to put their money in times of market uncertainty. And since we have seen a market that went straight up over a 15-month period, there was less demand for safety assets like the dollar.

But that can only last so long. Right now, there is a fear of inflation in the markets due to higher employment and wages.

When the economy is strong, inflation usually follows. That's because when people make more money, they spend more. And when more money is spent, there's more in circulation, and the excess supply makes each dollar less valuable.

However, inflation fears are likely overblown due to the fact that we haven't seen an economy this strong since before the financial crash.

When inflation gets too high, it sends production costs up and business slows. But right now, inflation remains steady around 2%.

That may seem high, as it was around 0% for all of 2015 and some of 2016, but in the big picture, it's normal. In fact, it's seen as healthy.

As a reference, inflation had gotten over 4% in 2005 and 2006, right as the economy showed signs of slowing.

Many are wondering how to profit from this analysis.

Demand for the Dollar

The dollar could easily get stronger from here as well.

Right now, a huge part of the world's economy has extremely low interest rates. Much of Europe, for example, is under 1%, and they aren't planning on raising rates aggressively anytime soon.

The United States, however, has a rate of 1.5%. This isn't high, but we could easily see that go over 2% this year if the economy stays healthy.

That would also increase the rate of government bonds, which is 2.86% right now. As the rate get higher, international investors will begin to buy more U.S. bonds, which increases demand for the dollar and sends its value up.

How to Profit

Even though the only way to directly invest in the strength of the dollar is through UUP, there are other ways with higher return potential.

One is buying call options on the UUP fund, but that's much riskier, as you could lose your whole investment.

Another way would be buying a leveraged ETF against a different currency.

For example, the VelocityShares Daily 4X Long USD vs. EUR ETF (NYSE: DEUR)returns four times the percentage that the dollar appreciates against the euro.

There are also similar funds that produce the return of the dollar against other currencies, like the pound (NYSE: DGBP), the yen (NYSE: DJPY) and the Australian dollar (NYSE: DAUD).

Harry S Truman

Harry S Truman

By Martin Hahn

Harry S. Truman was the first of 3 kids created to John Anderson Truman, a farmer and mule trader, and the wife of his, Martha Ellen Truman. Although the parents of his could not decide on a middle name, Harry was named in honor of the maternal uncle of his, Harrison Young. After over a month, they settled on merely utilizing the letter S as a tribute to both the maternal grandfather of his, Solomon Young, and the paternal grandfather of his, Anderson Shipp Truman.

Truman were raised on the family farm in Independence, Missouri, and didn't attend college. He worked a number of jobs after high school, initially as a timekeeper for a railroad building business, and then as a bookkeeper and a clerk at 2 individual banks in Kansas City. After 5 yrs, he returned to farming and joined the National Guard.

When World War I erupted, Truman volunteered for duty. Though he was thirty three years old - 2 years older compared to the age cap for the draft - as well as qualified for exemption as being a farmer, he helped manage his National Guard regiment, that had been eventually called into service in the 129th Field Artillery. Truman was promoted to captain in France and assigned Battery D, that had been known to be most unruly battery in the regiment. In spite of a modest and shy temperament, the respect was captured by Truman and admiration of the men of his and led them successfully through heavy combat during the Meuse Argonne campaign.

After the battle, home was returned by Truman and married the childhood sweetheart of his, Elizabeth Bess Wallace in 1919, with who one daughter was had by him, Mary Margaret. That very same year, he launched a foray into business as he and an associate, Eddie Jacobson, create a hat store in Kansas City. But with America encountering an economic decline in the early 1920s, the company failed in 1922. With all the closing of the company, Truman owed $20,000 to creditors. He refused to recognize bankruptcy and insisted on paying back again all of the cash which took over fifteen years.

Truman was elected to the United States Senate in 1934. In the first term of his, he served on the Senate Appropriations Committee, which was liable for allocating tax money for Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal tasks, and the Interstate Commerce Committee, which oversaw interstate, shipping, and railroads transport. Along with Senator Burton Wheeler, Truman began investigating railroads, and in 1940, he initiated legislation that enforced tighter federal regulation on the railroads, that aided him build the reputation of his as a man of integrity.

By the time Truman was in place for reelection in 1940, Thomas Pendergast was convicted of tax evasion and connected with voter fraud, along with many expected Truman's link with Pendergast would lead to a defeat. Truman did not attempt to hide or perhaps distort the relationship of his with Pendergast, Nonetheless, and the reputation of his as an ethical and frank man helped him win reelection, albeit narrowly.

In the second term of his, Truman chaired a specific committee to explore the National Defense Program to stop war profiteering and careless spending in defense industries. He received public recognition and support for his simple stories and pragmatic tips, as well as he received the admiration of the colleagues of his as well as the populace alike.

When FDR had to pick a running mate for the 1944 presidential election, the acting vice president of his, Henry Wallace, was deemed unacceptable. Wallace was disliked by many of the senior democrats in Washington, and since it was obvious that Roosevelt may not survive the fourth term, the vice presidential choice was particularly crucial. Truman's popularity, in addition to the reputation of his as a fiscally responsible male along with a defender of citizens' rights, made him an appealing choice. Although after the nomination was received by him, he campaigned vigorously, Truman was at first reluctant to accept.

Truman and Roosevelt had been elected in November of 1944, and Truman had taken the oath of on January twenty, 1945. He served as vice president only eighty two days before Roosevelt died associated with a massive stroke and thus he was sworn in as president on April twelve, 1945.

With no previous experience in policy that is foreign, Truman was thrust into the job of commander in chief and charged with ending a world war. In the first 6 months of the term of his, he announced the Germans' surrender, dropped atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima - ending World War II - and also signed the charter ratifying the United Nations.

After the War In spite of these first successes, Truman's diplomatic scenario was beset with obstacles. Although the Soviet Union were definitely a strong friend to the United States during the battle, international associations deteriorated fast when it started to be apparent that the Soviets intended to stay in control of Eastern European nations that have been expected to be reestablished based on their pre- Hitler governments. This, together with the exclusion of the Soviets from the reconstruction of Asia, started the Cold War.

Republicans dominated both houses of Congress in 1946, that had been viewed as a judgment of Truman's policies, and polls suggested that reelection was all but impossible. So certain looked the victory of New York Governor Thomas Dewey which the Chicago Tribune famously went to press with the title "Dewey Defeats Truman" before many polling places had released outcomes. The final effect was a win for Truman with 49.5 % of the vote, compared with Dewey's 45.1 %, and it was among the biggest upsets in the story of American elections.

Truman announced the domestic policy initiative of his, the Fair Deal program, in his 1949 State of the Union address. Building on Roosevelt's New Deal, it provided universal health care, a rise in the minimum wage, much more funding for education along with a promise of equal rights under the law for most citizens.

The system was a mixed success. In 1948, racial discrimination was banned in federal government hiring practices, the army was desegregated as well as the minimum wage gone up. National health insurance was rejected, as was even more money for training.

The Korean War broke out in June of 1950, and Truman quickly committed U.S. troops on the struggle. He thought that North Korea's intrusion of South Korea was challenging out of the Soviets, which, if still left unchecked, could escalate to another world war as well as to even more communist aggression. After a brief trend of public support for the decision of his, criticism mounted.

Truman originally endorsed a rollback approach and then encouraged General Douglas MacArthur to breach the 38th parallel, taking forces into North Korea to dominate the government. But when China delivered 300,000 troops to the aid of North Korea, tactics were changed by Truman. He reverted to the containment tactic, focusing on protecting the independence of South Korea instead of eliminating communism in the north. MacArthur publicly disagreed. To Truman, that was insubordination and challenging to the authority of his, as well as he dismissed MacArthur in April of 1951. MacArthur was obviously a popular general, as well as Truman's already weak approval rating declined even further.

In March of 1952, Truman announced that he wouldn't run for reelection. He gave the support of his to Governor Adlai Stevenson, the democratic nominee, although Stevenson was distancing himself from the president due to his bad approval rating.

After retiring from the presidency, Truman returned to Independence, Missouri, wherever the memoirs of his were written by him, oversaw the building of the presidential library of his and also took long walks. He died on December twenty six, 1972, and it is installed alongside Bess in the courtyard of the Truman Library.

As German soldiers approached the Soviet capital of Moscow, Stalin stayed there and aimed a scorched earth protective policy, ruining some infrastructure or supplies which could benefit the enemy. The tide spun for the Soviets together with the Battle of Stalingrad, from August 1942 to February 1943, during that the Red Army defeated the Germans and ultimately drove them from Russian federation.

As the battle progressed, Stalin participated in the main Allies conferences, together in Tehran (1943) and Yalta (1945). The iron of his will as well as deft political skills allowed him to play the devoted friend while hardly ever abandoning the vision of his of an expanded postwar Soviet kingdom.

By some estimates, he was to blame for the deaths of twenty million folks during his brutal rule.
