Self-Development: Can Someone Get Into Self-Development To Fulfil Their Unmet Childhood Needs?

Self-Development: Can Someone Get Into Self-Development To Fulfil Their Unmet Childhood Needs?

By Oliver JR Cooper

Although someone can be aware of why they are doing something, they can also be completely out of touch with this reason. However, even if this is the case, it doesn't mean that they will realise this.

Two Levels

One can have a clear idea as to why they want to do something, and this could match up with what is taking place at a deeper level. Their mind and body are then going to be working together.

At the same time, one could have clear idea in their mind as to why they are doing something, but that doesn't mean that what is going on at this level has anything to do with what is going on in their body. Their mind will then have constructed a story that has very little, if anything, to do with their true motive/s.

The Next Step

Either way, one could end up being drawn to self-development, with this being seen as a way for them to move towards their goal/s. Now, if one is in tune with their body, they are likely to enjoy this process.

On the other hand, if one is out of touch with their true feelings, they could be more concerned with getting to the finish line, so to speak. This difference might seem inconsequential, but it can reveal a lot about someone's true needs.

A Different Experience

When one wants to achieve something that is in alignment with their true needs, they are likely to enjoy the process. What they have to do to achieve something is not merely a means to an end; it is likely to be something that is deeply fulfilling.

This will allow one to embrace the present moment, instead of spending most of their time thinking about how good their life will be in the future. Yet, when what one wants to achieve is not in alignment with their true needs, what they do can simply be means to an end.

Two Extremes

This can then be a time in their life when they feel frustrated by what they need to do to move forward, meaning that this time in their is unlikely to be very fulfilling. The last thing they can want to do during this time is to embrace the present moment.

So, the sooner they are able to achieve their goal/s, the better their life will be. If one does achieve what they want to achieve, they may find that it doesn't have the impact on their life that they expected it to have.

Around In Circles

One could then take a step back and look into why this is, or they could find something else to achieve. This time it might be different, but then again, it could be no different to what happened before.

What can play a part here is that a lot of self-development books and courses are all about taking action and achievement. Therefore, if one is out of touch with the real reasons as to why they want to achieve something, there is going to be no reason for them to find out.

A Closer Look

If one was to touch with what is taking place in their body, they may see what is behind their need to achieve something. The reason for this is that this is where their unmet childhood needs are going to be found.

It is not going to matter how old they are as these unmet needs still going to have a big effect on their behaviour. This is going to relate to a time in their life when they desperately needed to be heard, seen, valued, loved and affirmed, amongst other things.

A Spectrum

It could be said that there will have been moments in every adults childhood when they didn't get their needs met. Having said that, there are going to be people who experienced a lot in pain at this time in their life.

And what may have stopped one from getting their development needs meet could have been abuse and/or neglect. One may have gradually disconnected from these unmet needs as the years went by, but they will have continued to affect their behaviour.

Success

For example, if one was verbally abused as a child it may have caused them to feel worthless, and this can give them the desire to be extremely successful. Unconsciously, this can be seen as a way for them to receive the love and the affirmation that they didn't receive as a child.

Alternatively, they might want to be someone who is likable and popular, with this also being a way for them to receive the love and attention they didn't receive as a child. There are countless ways in which one can try to fulfil these needs.

The Illusion

When one is unaware of what is going on and their life is being controlled by these unmet needs, it is not going to be possible for them to see how futile this is. That is not to say that they won't suffer through by trying to do this, as this is likely to cause them to experience a lot of pain.

Ultimately, one is not going to be able to fulfil these needs directly - that time has been and gone. Yet, if this pain was no longer within them, they would no longer have the need to fulfil these needs.

Awareness

One would then be able to realise that they are already whole and complete, and they would be in touch with their inherent value. Through feeling this way, it would enable them to fulfil their true needs,

This is a process that can take place with the assistance of a therapist or a healer.

I Felt Invalidated By My Therapist

I Felt Invalidated By My Therapist

By Oliver JR Cooper

When it became clear that I felt the need to be loyal to my father, towards the end of 2015, and that this was holding me back, I knew that I needed to do something else. The emotional processing work that I was doing at this time wasn't having much of an impact on this issue.

The Wrong Tool

In a way, it was like trying to cut a cord with a toothbrush - I needed to find another approach. Fortunately, the therapist who I was working with could relate to my experience, which meant that he recommended something he thought might help.

He said that I should try something called 'family constellation', and that this was a great way to deal with this type of issue. Shortly after this session, I ended up looking for someone to work with.

A Few Setbacks

This therapist had recommended someone who ran workshops, so I looked into when the next course would be. I soon found out that it would be a while until the next one and I wasn't prepared to wait.

I ended up finding someone who was able to offer this type of therapy over Skype, but at the last minute they cancelled. Working with someone over Skype appealed to me as I wouldn't have to spend minutes or even hours getting somewhere.

It Soon Worked Out

It wasn't long before I came across someone else, and this meant that I could find out what this type of therapy was all about. I was amazed that something like this could be done over the internet and that I didn't need to be in the therapist's presence.

At this time in my life, I felt weighed down and I wanted this to change. To my surprise, I started to feel lighter after I had my first session, and it wasn't long before I booked another one.

A Mixed Experience

Although this was someone who was very 'tuned in', there were a number of things that made me wonder what was going on. As far as I was concerned, being highly intuitive didn't mean that someone was always right or that they knew everything.

There was a moment when I spoke about the abuse and neglect that I experienced as a child and I was told that there were people who had it worse. I thought that this could be said no matter what has happened to someone in life; everything is relative, after all.

Invalidated

However, as I was in a lot of pain and suffered immensely during this life in my life, this wasn't what I wanted to hear. It was as if this person believed that once I had heard this, I would start to feel better.

I experienced shame and then I felt angry, and this resulted in me feeling let down. What I needed at this time in my life was for my experiences to be validated and not to have someone minimise and dismiss what I had gone through.

A One-Off

I soon came to see that it wasn't in my best interest to continue to work with this person. Thankfully, this was only the second time that I have experienced anything like this.

I can look back on the people who I have worked with and say that most of them were understanding and supportive. There is no reason why anyone should put up with a therapist who invalidates, minimised or dismisses what they have gone though and/or what they are going through.

Do You Have To Wait To Have Impact?

Do You Have To Wait To Have Impact?

By Ursula Jorch

When it comes to having impact, making a difference in the world, you can be deceived into thinking that you have to wait.

Wait until...

Your business is big

Your revenue reaches $1 million

Some event happens when you suddenly have more wisdom, more time, or more permission to have impact.

Is that you? Have you been waiting?

Abraham Maslow, in his famous Hierarchy of Needs, theorized that people couldn't begin to make contributions to society or even develop themselves as people until basic survival needs were met.

I see this viewpoint reflected in the way that old-style businesses have organized themselves. In the worldview of survival and competition, eat or be eaten, a lot of inward-looking businesses focus only on profit as the way to survive in the business world.

To me, that's a very base level at which to be operating.

It's true, you can't have a sustainable business without profit. But I and many business leaders feel that a profit / survival focus isn't the only way to have a business that lasts and makes money for its owners.

That's not just a belief. It's based on real results from real businesses.

When I started my first business 21 years ago, I didn't begin just by learning the ropes in finance and marketing and setting up systems. Along with that and at the same time, I used a visioning guide. That book and the mentor I had at the time led me through a process of defining what was important to me in my business, what I valued, and how I wanted to have well-being and impact as well as abundance.

I wanted a business that made a real contribution in the lives of people every day.

I wanted a business that reflected my values: integrity, honesty, high quality, and working with people in a way that was collaborative and respectful.

I wanted a business where I'd have room to help and mentor other people. I did that even in my first consulting business, when I had interns work with me or my corporate clients stopped me in the hallways and asked me for advice and support to start their own businesses.

And I got one. Just 13 months after starting, I was into 6 figures. Equally important, the work I was doing had impact.

That all sounds pretty good, right? But having this impact focus sure didn't make me perfect! I haven't always met my own high standards for myself or my business, but having those standards in place changed how I did things. I didn't take shortcuts that would have led to more profit if it conflicted with what I valued and that would have hurt other people. I refused to work on projects for companies in the tobacco industry, for example.

I had to laugh when I pulled out that visioning guide the other day, the one I used before I started my business. In some ways, I thought I'd changed so much. When I sold my house and most of my belongings 7 years ago and spent a year traveling while I kept my business going, I thought I'd undergone a complete transformation.

And in many ways I have - where and how I live and my actual business focus - but my business values remain, and continue into my coaching business today.

So, back to our friend Maslow. I think his 5-tier hierarchical system for human development was certainly useful in its time. But it doesn't really capture the full complexity of human experience and potential.

You have so much to offer even when you're in the early days of your business or in a transition in your established business. Your awareness of that informs your own growth and your business' creation, transition, and growth.

So my answer to that question in the title: do you have to wait to have impact?

Not at all. You don't have to wait. In fact, you shouldn't wait.

Starting to get clear about the impact you want to have NOW, wherever you are in business, NOW is the best time wherever you are in your entrepreneur journey.

I see our growth as entrepreneurs as being not just a personal journey, although it certainly is that!

I see your business also as an exchange, a dialog between you and the larger world.

For example, as you put your offerings out into the world, you get feedback. Offered with love, the response to those offerings will tell you a great deal about your impact.

Are you having the impact you want to have? If not, you can change what you offer and how you offer it until you are much more in alignment with both your own desired impact and what people want.

So really, you always have an impact. You may just not always know what that impact is! And that's why being conscious of the impact you want to have is so important.

A phrase I often use is, 'Impact: it's not just for social enterprises anymore'.

Making a contribution as a business isn't limited to social enterprises. We often think about companies and organizations like non-profits that are focused on social change as being the ones that are concerned with their impact. There are many large and small businesses successfully operating in this way, having as their focus the impact that they want to have. Not just successfully, but even more than companies that only focus on profit.

Whole Foods, Southwest Airlines and Patagonia are some big companies you probably know. In a study done of large corporations that operate with principles that value every stakeholder, that recognize their impact on everyone that comes into contact with the company, from the owner to the team members, the suppliers, to the customers and shareholders.

Companies that focus on impact do 12-14 times better financially than companies that follow the traditional business model that focuses only on profit.

Many of those companies built a focus on connection and yes, even love, into their mandates.

They saw the pragmatic role of love in business.

They view business stakeholders not as competitors for a limited pool of value, but as active contributors to it. The pool is constantly replenished as businesses contribute, so we're not in danger of running out. That scarcity mentality of business of trying to get your part of a limited pie just doesn't apply.

It's not just big companies that choose to operate this way.

The clients I work with, small business owners are uniquely in a position to build their companies as they choose, right from the start. We as entrepreneurs have the opportunity to build businesses with a strong sense of connectivity to our fellow beings and the Earth.

Through that dedication to a higher purpose, companies move through challenging times with more ease, the owners and their staff are more motivated, and often, employees want to contribute even more, to volunteer and make a difference outside of the company.

Through clarity about your Impact Purpose, you can have a substantial impact right away. Imagine the effect of a focus on impact on how you treat a supplier, or a contract employee, a VA (virtual assistant) or vendor. You already have impact on them, just by how you show up, by how you choose to treat them and handle your relationship. How you show up for every person in your business is a big part of your impact.

What's key in all of this? Consciousness.

Being conscious about the impact you want to have means you can exercise it. When you're conscious about the impact you want to have, you can make decisions in your business, and your life, that really reflect your desired impact. You can show up in your business every day with that in mind, and make a real difference, the difference you want to make.

So I hope this has you thinking. Your impact doesn't have to wait.

You can have impact right now, in your work, in your startup, in your existing business.

You already have impact, just by how you show up. Do you want that impact to be just profit, or do you want to bring more love into the world?

You can. By making the impact you want to have conscious, your impact can only grow as you make decisions that allow you to put that desired impact into action.

I'll leave you with a quote from the Impact Manifesto, which I wrote for the Work Alchemy community and anyone who wants to have more impact:

"I believe that impact is grounded in love - love for myself, for others and for the world in which I live."

I believe that you matter. That what you do matters.

What do you believe about your impact?

When Should You Do Better? A Troll Experience

When Should You Do Better? A Troll Experience

By Lenora Johnson

Have you ever heard of the famous quote, "Do the best you can until you know better... Then when you know better- do better."

You may or may not have guessed that this quote was made by Dr. Maya Angelou. I found this quote to ring loud and clear and true to life. I try every attempt to stay professional and politically correct, but with social media and technology making swift changes to communication and information platforms it puts many of us in a hard to resist, temptation-moment. I found myself answering to trolls who had nothing to lose and in their selfish mind, all to gain. Not giving a hoot about you- other than to seek and destroy.

I learned and must recoup from being known as strictly professional to having to "check" a troll who bashed my professionalism because I responded back to her (she says she got angry because I responded back to her) She did not know me but had an ulterior motive to seek and destroy reputations and anything else that lied in her way. Saying one thing back or in many cases defending honor could quickly turn south. Which is exactly what the trolls want to happen. My professionalism was bashed while my book was not, it was later corrected to bash it. The other "professional" and her trolls lied, threatened, cuss, used sex figurines in their posts and comments, talked negatively about hate of gender and sexuality (not mines, but that's what trolls do), race, and anything else they wanted to rant about. Trolls stick together and attempt to dox; a term deemed for the actions and behaviors of a scorned internet troll.

How can this affect your professional reputation? How does this affect your ability to apply for positions in the future? It may or may not. Trolls believe that they are untouchable while trying to hurt your chances of succeeding at anything. That being said, they don't care what they destroy as long as the attempt is made.

This is what I've learned- Trolls are not worth it, even if they are making things up and have grave intent to take you down. They are really smart when it comes to writing their next consensus actions in posts and comments, too. Protect yourself on the internet and stay professional. Remember, that trolls sounding off, hide their identity and they will use anonymous accounts and avatars to stay alive on social media platforms. They have nothing to lose which is why they attack so viciously. They have learned to protect their assets going in. So, to say the least, once you have learned from experience and from the warning of others; the consequences, you then know better. And, when you know better, you do better.

Protect your online presence; your professional and personal's character and assets, as well as, focus on keeping it clean as much as you can. I have learned this and I am coming back stronger and wiser. A friend who helps to run his family's business for the past 20 plus years, and whom also was a customer of my resume services because he wanted to venture out on his own said to me, "Lenora that's just one person. What do you care?, I cannot believe that you let one person and a gang of trolls, out of billions of people- alter your main goal." This bit of advice came from a seasoned businessman.

After knowing better, I have already learned to do better for me, my family and my ultimate goals. You should too. Think about how knowing better, but doing otherwise can affect your job search goals.

No better and do better for the New Year!

Setting Up a Small Business in 2018 - It's Not All About How Much Money You Have

Setting Up a Small Business in 2018 - It's Not All About How Much Money You Have

By Pierre Jean-Claude

When you think of starting a business, the first thing that comes to mind is money/capital. Of course, you need money to start a business, even if it is very little considering the fact how easy it is to start a business in the digital age. However, there could be many other factors that affect a business in today's digital economy-some you show serious concern to and some you don't really pay attention to much.

Blockchain Is Affecting All Types of Businesses

One of the biggest concerns for today's entrepreneurs before they start business is probably blockchain or crypto technology. The world is seeing the rise of crypto technology and how it is being integrated into the existing business ideas. A little more than a couple of years ago, you must have heard the term "bitcoin". From bitcoin, people still believe that blockchain is all about digital currency i.e. money in the digital world. However, this is far from truth. Blockchain is expected to affect all types of businesses and industries in the world in the coming days.

It is a technology that redefines the security aspect of many businesses in 2018, introduced decentralization in modern business technologies and benefits the end consumers in multiple ways. For example, you could launch a gaming platform where no one needs the existing currencies. You could launch your own platform with your own money today. You don't really have to start everything from the scratch; instead you could base your currency on the existing blockchain platforms like Ethereum. Through ICOs, you could have investors from around the world invest in your idea. So, blockchain is definitely a consideration for all businesses starting in 2018 and the coming years.

Physical Warehouses Are Not Necessary

A few years ago, only a certain types of business could be called truly online businesses. For businesses where products have to be stored for some time, a complete online presence was not the solution. Entrepreneurs who had such business ideas in mind had to have enough money to have their own warehouses. However, this has also changed quite a bit in the past couple of years. With the idea of drop shipping becoming common with time, it is becoming easier for businessmen to start their own businesses without much investment.

In a drop shipping model, all you have to do is collect orders from customers, forward those orders to the manufacturers or suppliers and have the goods shipped. You only act as a liaison in this particular model because it is the supplier that sends the products directly at the customers' doorsteps. You will still need an online store with all the products listed for customers to see. However, you don't need any warehouses because you don't have to own, buy or store any products. The good thing is that this model now allows drop shippers to offer much more competitive rates so penetrating into the market is easier for them.

Big Data Is the Big Difference

Another technology that has been influencing business decisions and the way businesses operate is big data. While the term "big data" seems that you are referring to just large amounts of data but in reality, you are also referring to the methodologies and technologies that are in use to handle big data. You will be completely wrong to think that traditional software and hardware solutions can deal with big data in any way. Let's take the example of a bank. A bank could have hundreds of branches located all around the country. In these hundreds of branches, the bank will have hundreds of thousands of customers.

The bank has account information of hundreds of thousands of these customers. In addition to that, the bank is constantly investing in stock and foreign markets, storing and utilizing that information. The same bank handles the data of all micro and macro loans it is forwarding to its customers. It is also storing information about customers through its mobile application to know what customers expect from the mobile website. On all of those hundreds of branches, the bank also has CCTV cameras collecting terabytes of footage on a daily basis.

Do you think all this data goes to waste? No, the data bank collected from banks is utilized in making bank branches securer. Data from mobile devices helps bank refine their mobile application. Data collected through financial softwares helps a bank improve its insurance, loan, mortgage, etc. offerings. It may seem on the surface that big data is a headache for big businesses only, but big data is just as important for small businesses as well. What this mean is that businesses starting in 2018 will have to have a big data approach right from day one.

Internet Security Is the Biggest Threat Now

It is unfortunate that rather than making the world a safer place, the new technology has led to greater internet threats. Cyber attacks are becoming more frequent with time, and much more sophisticated too. In the past few years, cyber attacks on some of the biggest companies of the world, including tech companies have proved that security has to be the major concern for every business-small, mid-scale or large. If you think starting a new business or having a small business gives you any advantage over large ones.

As a matter of fact, it's the small businesses that are at a higher risk when they are under any type of cyber attack. This is because large businesses have the technologies and capital to fight the attack, recover and get back on their feet again. On the other hand, small businesses usually don't have any of that.

Final Thoughts

The challenges for any small businesses in 2018 are much bigger and technology-related than they have ever been in the past. The need of the time for small business owners in 2018 is to say goodbye to the traditional thinking and embrace new technologies to be successful. They must also remember that in the modern age and coming years, every business is (like) a tech business to some extent due to its dependence on technology to collect customer data, create marketing campaigns and secure customer information.

Product Information Management System: What Is It and Why Is It Important?

Product Information Management System: What Is It and Why Is It Important?

By Neha Lad

What is PIM?

Today various ecommerce sites, other online channels and mobile search are where consumers head to when searching for information on products. According to Retail dive, more than 65% of consumers conduct online product research before stepping foot in a store. More than 55% of consumers visit stores before buying online, emphasizing the idea that high-touch physical and seamless omnichannel experiences are critical for modern retailing. As a result of changing consumer behaviors and increasing demand for seamless shopping experiences, businesses have started using digital marketing strategies widely.

With the growing use of digital, it has become important for every business to communicate consistent branding and accurate product information across the Omni-channel landscape. Product Information Management system is therefore required to overcome such complexity and scale that has been created by various channels offline and online.

PIM is widely used by ecommerce managers, online merchandisers, marketers and product managers who are always looking for friendlier tools that enable them to manage all their product information in one place without having to constantly calling out for information from colleagues and partners via emails and calls.

Why is PIM important?

Product information management system is necessary for managing the customer-facing product strategy. This is because consumers today spend a lot of time researching a product online before making a purchase. Consequently, the need for high quality product content has become more important for manufacturers, retailers, distributors and CPG firms. The product description today has a big role to play to make a sale happen online.

As a matter of fact, retailers are now giving priority to online content enhancement over a range of other merchandizing enterprises like product recommendation, A/B testing and personalization. Here are the two main reasons why this is the case:

Having detailed product descriptions is the main differentiator in customer experience. Studies have shown that 30% of the US online adults would prefer shopping from online retailers they have never made any purchase from if the product information on the website is detailed.

There is a new breed of buyers due to the increase in the demand of high-quality and consistent product information. As a result, 33% of channel strategy professionals and eBusinesses cited that investing in product information management system is their top priority.

Why do businesses invest in PIM?

The decision to buy a PIM solution is not the same for everyone. The needs of retailers differ depending on the industry and type of business. There are many scenarios that cause customer-obsessed businesses to make an investment in PIM. Below are the main scenarios.

The need to have a single view of the product data that is customer -facing. Businesses that create their own products have used product information management systems since time immemorial to get buy-side supply-chain-related data like product weight and dimensions. These businesses also need the PIM for one repository for the consumer-ready, approved and trusted product content that is accessible across their enterprise to the internal users and are also accessible to the external channel partners like resellers and retail distributors.

To reduce time that is needed to market new products that have been launched. Manual processes hinder the goal of streamlining such as designing, creating, publishing and approving. The PIM helps automate most of the processes needed in product creation.

To be able to support bigger product catalogs. PIM offer scalable solutions that allow firms to increase their SKUs and products without worrying of system scalability.

To support the increasingly demanding channels of the distribution partners. PIM gives the ability to manage the unique product content for each channel partner and tools needed to syndicate out the product content in required predefined specifications.

To ensure consistent cross-channel customer experience.

The product information management system is a great investment you can make. You just need to pick the solution that suits your business. Do you have any question or need any help? Simply send us an email at  contact@inventrik.com and we will be happy to give you the help you need.

Not all of us afford a shiny new car. For many Americans, buying a used car is their only chance to get a ride. However, there are many sharks in the water and you should avoid being scammed. Check the following tips for buying a used car:

1. Analyze how much you can afford spending for a car. Be realistic about how much you can afford for buying a car and insuring it. Do not forget to research your state's minimum coverage requirements. If you're taking out a loan to pay for your car, your car payment shouldn't be more than 20 percent of your take-home pay. If you're sticking to a tight budget, you may want to spend even less.

2. Make a list with used car models that interest you. You need to spend a lot of time researching for used car. If you find a good deal, make sure to spend some hours identifying the car's weak points and if the model was recalled by manufacturer. Also check for typical repair costs and maintenance costs. Keep in mind that used cars usually require periodic maintenance and parts replacement.

3. Look for local used car auctions and sales. Finding used cars in your area is pretty advantageous. First of all, it gives you the opportunity to inspect the car and notice if there are important defects.

4. Use the internet to help you detect the car models you want. There are many websites and forums you can use to track local used cars marketplaces or even talk with owners of used cars. They can tell you more about the car and its history.

5. Get a vehicle history report before buying. You should always ask for a history report from the owner or the dealership. In this way you will know if the car has a bad history. If so, you should better choose another vehicle.

6. Inspect the car closely, preferably with your mechanic nearby. Bring your own specialist when inspecting the car. Look for the following signs:
• Paint overspray

Choosing the Right Tyre for Your Car

Choosing the Right Tyre for Your Car

By Aman Tumukur Khanna

Just as the model selection is critical to the performance of the car so as the tyres. Afterall the basic integrity of performance lies in the tyres itself. Tyres are often selected by the dealers during the purchase looking at the model and your application. Nevertheless, an ample knowledge can not only protect you from harm but may help you in selecting even better option. Sometimes the car fails to serve us the performance we are expecting from it and that can be because of wrong tyre selection. There's no need to fret because you can easily exchange them from the dealer.

Basically these are the types of tyres available and you can consider any one of them based on your application and expectation

1. Standard Tyres:

As the name suggests, these are the generic form of tyres and the one usually fitted with cars. Nothing great can be expected out of them as they are meant for general purposes. You can consider them if you do not desire a huge performance from your vehicle.

2. Touring Tyres:

These are of premium type and are usually meant for travelling purposes. The best part about them is minimal noise level and less vibrations. These tyres leave a characteristic tread pattern and so can easily be distinguished from others. However, the tread pattern is somewhat less aggressive than the sporty ones.

3. Sporty Tyres:

These are high performance tyres with higher grip levels to sustain both dry and wet climatic conditions. The only drawback with them is their high noise level. As discussed earlier the tread patterns of these tyres are aggressive and so make noise while driving.

4. High Speed Tyres:

These can be found in both sporty and touring category. A high performance tyre is equipped with durable construction that can withstand extremities. One of the finest to choose if you aim for high performance. These can generally be seen with sports car as their noise level is lesser.

5. Eco friendly Tyres:

Yes, tyres can be eco friendly too. These are new to the league and help in reducing fuel consumption by lowering friction losses. If your fuel expense is rising day by day then you can surely give these a try.

6. Run Flat Tyres:

These are available in both sporty and touring types. These are specially designed in a way to reduce the loss of handling after a tyre puncture. A car can be driven in punctured condition with Run Flat Tyres for a distance of 80 kms and a speed of 80 km/hr. You do not have to worry to change the tyre pronto or if there's no garage around. The performance is also better than others and can surely be relied on.

4 Basic Tips to Consider Before Disposing Your Car

4 Basic Tips to Consider Before Disposing Your Car

By Achal Mehrotra

So you are having a junk car in your garage which is holding a lot of space. I guess at some point we really need to get rid of junk from our garage but getting a fair deal for it becomes difficult. Mostly owners demand a high amount which dealers refuse to fulfill. Seldom it is also affected by the fluctuations in scrap rates and we keep on waiting until a good deal is found. Finding a good dealer and rate is tough but if you have found one then here are some basic tips before you finally dispose it off.

1. Check thoroughly:

What can possibly be in that car? would be your first thought while thinking of checking it. We have a tendency to leave our belongings in the car. Sometimes car becomes another home and we tend to leave things in it thinking to be safe. Yes, definitely it is safe but now that you have decided to dispose it why not give it a thorough check. Check the car completely that is, the CD player, under floor mats, above visors, bins. If you have any insurance card left in the car then take it out as well even if it is out of date. The paperwork should be with you too. It is your responsibility to check before the tow truck comes.

2. Sell valuable parts alongside:

Ofcourse you found a good junk deal but there is no harm in selling valuable components of the car to some other person for few extra bucks. For like your car batteries as they have a resale value and you can sell it to some recycler as the lead in batteries can get some extra bucks.

3. Remove license plates:

The junkyard is always in a hurry, so you do not get sufficient time to even talk to the towing drivers. Make sure that you remove license plates to avoid any future distress. In many countries you have to handover the license plate to the motor vehicle department for cancelling car registration or an insurance. Make sure to remove it in the first place.

4. Use your fuel:

If your car was in working condition before selling it to the junkyard and you would want to use up the fuel before towing. Even if it is not running at all then siphon the gasoline from the fuel tank discreetly. The junkyard is anyway going to drain all the fuel off your tank before recycling it.

After the Equifax Hack, Consumers Are On Their Own - Here Are 6 Tips To Protect Your Data

After the Equifax Hack, Consumers Are On Their Own - Here Are 6 Tips To Protect Your Data

By William Hath Davis

The fear of getting your personal information leaked is a man's worst nightmare, you agree to that, don't you? So how much on a scale of 1 to 100 would you rank your level of fear if you had to be a victim of the Equifax hack? Whoa!! A mere imagination was enough to frighten the hell out of you isn't it. Now let's come back to reality, approximately 143 million American consumers fell prey to this breach, causing their sensitive personal information to be exposed at Equifax, one of third largest credit reporting agencies in The United States. A company they once considered trustworthy wasn't strong enough to safeguard their personal information. What difference would it make if at all they had to get themselves a fingerprint scanner to secure data.

Equifax disclosed a few facts about the data breach they recently faced. Let's browse through what they have to say:

The breach lasted from mid-May to July. The hackers accessed people's names, birth dates, driver's license number, address and even their social security numbers, which can cause a major threat to your personal life.
They also stole away the credit card numbers of 209,000 people and other documents consisting individual identifying data of approximately 182,000 inhabitants.
Apart from this, they've also stolen the private information of people residing in the United Kingdom and Canada.

Phew!! That's a lot. If you love your data more than yourself and don't wish to see yourself suffer as they did, read through these 6 steps, follow them religiously and protect your information from being misused:

1. Inquire if you've been a victim

You can do so by entering your last name and the last six digits of your social security number at the Equifax website. This will tell you if you've been affected by this breach or not.

2. Enter yourself for a year of free credit monitoring

You can now attain your credit report from Experian, Equifax and TransUnion free of cost. This will help you know about an identity theft, if any. Whether or not you've been a victim to the Equifax breach, the company considers you eligible for a 12-month free credit monitoring along with other services. It also gives you a date when you can come back and get yourself enrolled.

3. Place a credit freeze on your files

A credit freeze obstructs someone (thieves) from creating a new account using your name although it won't prevent him or her from making any changes to your existing account.

4. Supervise your existing accounts

It is important to monitor your bank account and credit card details minutely and if you notice something fishy, you need to take up the required steps.

5. Consider placing a fraud alert on your files

If you decide to go against a credit freeze, you must consider placing a fraud alert on your files. This warns creditors of you being an identity theft victim and asks them to verify if every transaction that is being made using in your name is done by you or someone else.

6. File your taxes on or before time

File your taxes as soon as you have the tax information you need but way before a cyber crook attains it (Do this without fail!)

A tax identity theft occurs when someone uses your social security number in order to get a job or a tax refund. Deliver quick replies to letters from the IRS.

Cyber security breaches will continue as cyber attackers are and will become more sophisticated in the years to come. Companies need to ensure that consumer data is secured in the best possible manner and the only way to do so is by using a fingerprint scanner.
