Extra Work Is Not Too Hard

Extra Work Is Not Too Hard

By Daniel Blanchard

Life is already hard enough, right? And if it is already hard enough, then wouldn't it be even harder, or maybe even too hard, to do more than we are already doing? Well, it's hard to disagree with that statement, but maybe we should look at what comes next when we decide to either do or not to do the extra work.

If we decide to take on that burden of extra work what will happen? Well, it's like lifting weights. What happens when we add a little extra weight and stress to those muscles? That's right! It doesn't really weigh us down after all; instead, it makes our muscles bigger, stronger and more capable when we do a little extra.

Well, guess what? Life is also like that. When we take on a little more, we grow and become stronger and more capable. And isn't being stronger and more capable what we really want in life?

Now, let's look at the other side. What if we don't take on this extra work? What will happen? Well, we certainly won't force ourselves to grow into super proportions and increased capabilities if we don't take on the extra work, right?

But wait... there is more... I want you to picture the next 20 years of your life just coasting. Picture not getting the mate of your dreams because you aren't a high enough quality of individual to attract that type of person. Picture struggling to pay for your home every month because you don't have the type of job that gives you enough money to live comfortably. Picture your child someday being sick and you are stressing over another doctor bill, and you don't know what to do about it. What's really hard is not the doing extra, but the alternative of not doing extra.

Now teens, go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us. Remember, extra work is not too hard. And once again, thanks in advance for all the extra that you now do, and all the extra that you will do...
