The A to Z Guide To Creativity

It really is a tough old world out there. A lot of people send me messages or begin conversations about creativity and what I believe are the steps needed to be undertaken to be the best creative you can be.

Talk about a tough ask, definitely a real wiz-bang elevator pitch if I ever heard one.

Well then, since so many have asked for it, I've decided to put it all down in simple steps from A to Z.

Got your pen and paper ready? Alright, here we go.

A. Uhm... OK I think I'm stuck now.

What the heck? I hear you ask?

Simple. If there's one thing that I am definite about is that there is no such thing as a definitive guide to creativity! If you ever find yourself thinking that the guy on the website trying to sell you the secret might be on to something just remember - there is no secret! The only secret that you'll get is to learn how to make him wealthier and yourself poorer at the same time.

There is no secret sauce to the creative big mac.

There are no 11 secret herbs and spices for your creativity.

If you truly want to study creativity from an expert, then spend some time with kids. Watch how they can take a piece of string and create whole new universes out of it. If you can tune your own creativity or I guess it's better said - if you can re-find your childish creativity talents then you will be at the most creative peak than you ever have been.

So, the A to Z guide then. I guess it is better said as the A guide to creativity.

A. There are no guides

A. There are no instructions

A. There is no limit

All there is are tools and helpful hints to get you in a state of mind where your own internal creative abilities can come to the fore.

Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of hints, tips, tricks, techniques, books and guides that can help you on your journey. The journey however, is yours to take alone. You are solely in charge of your own creativity. Unleash it and let it run wild.

Skip down the street.

Sing in the elevator.

Smile and enjoy life.

No one can ever tell you that you are wrong - it's your creative outlet and outlook.
