Our limitation to understand life hinder our growth. Although money makes a person significant and important, it has the ability to make us greedy. It causes us to focus our attention on ourselves and draws us away from God.
Always be in control. Do not allow money to possess your heart which should belong to God. We understand the principle from a physical perspective. It is pure arrogance to think that you cannot learn anything more or that you have come far enough that you can "ease up" on the studies. Yet that is what many do.
Indifference. People often worries about their spiritual malnutrition but they are do not care enough to do something about it. Indifference is a matter of the heart. It is an indication that your heart is not spiritually pure. At best, indifference means that you serve God with divided loyalty.
All of the good intentions and even actions that you do take will not overcome this attitude until it becomes something you determine to do to the degree that you will not allow anything to distract you from it. Think about it. Ignorance is another deterrent to spiritual growth. Many people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Poor planning. We also need a plan to get there. Formulating a plan is not an easy task. s a result they are overwhelmed. Many in discouragement give up. Lack of discipline. Implementing these plans takes discipline, We allow everything that comes along to distract our growth. While it is not easy, self-discipline can be learned.
Poor role models. When one first becomes a Christian he begins observing his brethren. When one first becomes a Christian he begins observing his brethren. Which means his growth will be stunted.
Our entertainment driven society. We live in the television, video game, computer age. The goal is to be entertained. There are reasons why we are called upon to make a total commitment to God. The allure of the world is one of them. And it WILL stunt our spiritual growth.
Discouragement. The fact that one is discouraged is not wrong within itself. We all become discouraged from time to time. Even Jesus was discouraged occasionally. Realize that growth also takes time. Growth will come "in due season".
If we have attitude problems, adjust your attitude. We have already noted that poor planning hinders growth. The opposite is also true.Pray regularly and study HOW to pray. As much as possible, don't neglect the church.
Be PATIENT. As we have already noted, growth takes time. It also takes great effort. This requires planning. We need to set aside time in our lives to grow.
Nothing replaces consistency. In order to be great in anything it takes practice. The less we invest, the weaker we get. It really is that simple. It's discipline that we struggle with. If you want to grow in spiritual resistance, in knowledge, in faith, in your relationship with God, in your tools to witness to others, get back to the basics and dedicate to consistency.
