Notes from Israel

I have never been to Tel Aviv before or anywhere alone for that matter, yet the story of one man called to me and inspired a chain of events that would lead me to the discovery that we are all here to help others. For me that meant getting on a plane and flying thousands of miles to a country that was so foreign to me, though nervous I went because I had to capture the true human spirit that this man brought to the world.

Yossi Ghinsberg could have been another story of lost for dead, eaten alive by the wildness that is the Amazon Jungle. He had suffered the hopelessness that comes to one in a true fight for survival. His story is so compelling for one reason. When all hope was lost, when he had nothing left to fight for, when he begged for the peacefulness that he thought death would bring, it was here in this moment that he decided to fight on, to live, not for him but because of someone else. His story is riveting and filled with everything a great action adventure film would boast, yet the thing is, it's not a film, its real life and what happened to Yossi, what inspired him to keep going was something found deep within the human spirit.

I flew to Israel to reveal the deepest and most glorious parts of the human will to experience the simple truth that your greatest life comes when you do for others.

I have made it my mission to fly to the remotest parts of the world in search of those who have lived life on the edge, who have seen the extreme, been to hell and back and yet have emerged victorious and conquered life.

Why? Because there is a truth that exists in these stories. This truth is what the foundations of our lives are based upon. The truth is that we are people with an amazing human spirit and the capacity to over come anything in life if we so chose. The choice is to live for others or live for yourself. It really is that simple.

I landed in Israel, interviewed Yossi, I walked in Jesus footsteps, swam in the Dead Sea, crossed the border by mistake into Palestine and was delayed when my bus got into a crash, and when I left I knew they knew the same truth as when I arrived.

We will do more for others than we will ever do for ourselves... and we should!
