Managing Stress With Hypnosis

Regardless of who you are or where you are in life, it is certain that you face stress on a daily basis. Maybe you're a student who is bogged down balancing an academic and social life and find it difficult to cope at times. Perhaps you have a job that stresses you out. Stress could be triggered by your boss, your significant other, your kids, your friends or even events happening around you. Whatever the case, we live in a fast paced world full of demands tugging at us from many directions.

Stress is actually your reaction to a certain event, change in experience or relationship and can be extremely detrimental to your physical and mental health. Not everyone suffers from the same symptoms but generally, stress can cause:

• Anxiety and depression
• Anger
• Monkey mind (non-stop racing thoughts)
• Constantly being on edge and irritable
• Low self-esteem and lack of self-love
• Feeling overwhelmed
• Lack of motivation and inability to focus
• Negative thinking and worrying
• Tension and migraine headaches
• Stomach issues
• Racing heartbeat
• Bad habits such as nail biting and teeth grinding
• Lack of sleep or too much sleep

Stress can be so debilitating that you may not be able to get out of bed in the morning, perform simple everyday tasks or may even lead you to drug or alcohol dependency as an attempt to help you cope better. Ever heard of stress eating? How many people do you know that run to the fridge or junk food cabinet every time they get stressed out?

The fact of the matter is that as long as you are alive, stress will always exist. "But why do so many other people around me seem to have stress free lives," you ask. The answer is they don't. They are simply much better at handling the same everyday stresses that drive you up the wall. Some people have an easier time coping while others need external help. Hypnosis has grown exponentially in helping to manage stress.

Like any other issues that people deal with such as fears, being overweight or addiction, hypnosis for stress management involves bringing forth your subconscious mind to make the changes necessary leading you to a calmer life where inner peace truly does exist. The subconscious is also brought forward to follow that stressed out feeling you get all the way back to where it began.

The stresses in your daily life are only triggers bringing up whatever feeling they cause such as depression, anxiety, anger or worry. That feeling began somewhere in your life. You are no different than the happy go lucky neighbor you have who seems to have it all together.

So where did your feelings that stress causes originate? You may or may not think you know but most of our issues stem from way back to while we were in the womb to 3 or 4 years of age. "Wait. I don't remember that far back much less anything from when I was in the womb. So how can we go back to something I don't remember," you ask. The fact is you do remember... subconsciously.

Whatever initially caused these feelings you have when you get stressed out could be a number of things, some more major than others. Keep in mind you spent 9 months in the womb. Pregnancy can be very stressful for many soon to be mothers. Despite the fact that you are not yet born, you still feel everything your mother feels and feed off of her stress, much of the time leading you to your inability to handle stress.

Your feelings and emotions could also come from something more serious. Someone who is a survivor of child abuse could very well bring those emotions and feelings the abuse caused into adulthood. The same goes for children who were bullied. Regardless of where your feelings came from, hypnosis can help neutralize them and give you a fresh new start.

Together, you and your hypnotist can work to alleviate the pain the initial event caused and turn it into more of a learning experience. They will also provide you with better coping mechanisms such as self-hypnosis, breathing exercises, meditation or even a "zone of serenity." The only difference between you and those that cope better is that they have figured out ways to do so. However minor or severe your stress levels are, you do not have to let stress rule your life. Everyone deserves inner peace, happiness and a positive and productive life and you are not exempt. The grass truly is greener on the other side.
