Spiritual Similarities Between Hindus and Buddhists

Hinduism and Buddhism both were born on the subcontinent of India and share many spiritual goals and practices. There have some fundamental differences between the two religions, but Buddhism first emerged around 530 B.C. When the great spirit Gautam Buddha started teaching this two different religions have been in constant dialogue and have influenced each other in many possible ways.

Hinduism and Buddhism both emphasize the illusory nature of our beautiful world. This two religions refer to the cyclical world of our knowledge and experience as "Samsara," a place we enter again and again by reincarnation. Karma the consequences of our action. It keeps us bound to samsara and tempers the quality of life and the type of rebirth we will receive. The main difference here is that many Hindus believe in a permanent, self-existent soul that is reincarnated but Buddhists reject the idea of any type of permanent soul.

Hindus and Buddhists both believe that they are reincarnated not only as human beings but also as animals. This has resulted in a strong feeling of love towards all living beings. In this way of thinking that your pet cat or dog could possibly be a mother or father from a past life. If you are the cause of making any violent act towards any animal, you would eventually have to suffer the karmic consequences of that action, either in this life or the next life.

Both religions accept that selfish desire to be the main cause of human suffering. According to the Buddhists, desire is the major cause of all suffering, and if any person able to remove all desires from his life then the result is the end of suffering and he or she can enjoy the real peace of life. According to the Hindu scriptures, performing actions that are driven by desire will lead to bondage and suffering, while performing actions without any desiring the fruit of those works result in liberation.

Meditation was an aspect of Hinduism before the Gautam Buddha was born. Gautam Buddha himself accepted and created many meditation techniques. The both religions use different meditation process to improve their concentration. Both Hindus and Buddhists believe in prayer in front of god and temple visiting or Mandir Darshan also a major part of their spiritual practices.
