Finding Freedom: A Return Home

For as long as I can remember I've had a jump first and let's see where I land mentality. I am not sure at this point if this folly has always served me well. But the hunger for more reverberates so deep in my soul that it can't be denied. As a result, in find myself rejecting the collective path of religion, career and familial relationships in search of something more. Somewhere along the way I believe that most of us get it wrong.

It is my belief that when we live in the confines of a self-imposed mental prison, it can be difficult to see a way out. Unfortunately, it's not until we escape this restricted way of thinking that we realize we have always been free. For most of us, acquiring the strength to transmute our lives is acceded over time. For others it can implode violently in an instant, pushing us in to the next phase without complete understanding as to what happened. Our purpose for incarnation must be realized, as it can only bubble beneath the surface for so long before it erupts. The fear of this transformation is not derived from a place of weakness, rather a lack of faith in our fortitude to endure the impending storm of change.

From birth we are taught that mediocrity is the norm and the acquiescence of such will ultimately lead to happiness. This dogmatic belief system is ingrained so deep that it causes us to fail to see the inherent value of a more holistic lifestyle. Just the mere idea of this can cause anxiety, as the multitude ascribe to the resignation of familiar territory, rather than venturing out into the unknown and failing. This can be especially true for those who are blindly bound by societal rules. While we may be liberated by the idea of such pursuit, there can also be a sense of loss, leaving behind that which we need to escape. Regardless of the fear, it is imperative to follow this yearning.

It is the God within all of us who gently instills the urge for expanded awareness, awakening us to the truth that everything leads back to Universal Source. All that we seek and need is already inside. The issue is that our connection to Him is muffled out by the noise of the world, thus causing the innate longing to return home. As we ascend to a higher level of consciousness, we realize that there are no quantifiable assets that can rectify what is Spiritually void, and only the Spirit enriches that which is material. The acceptance of such ideals will lead us to our Dharma, the only path that brings solace to a wandering soul. Eventually we find that all roads lead back to the Divine Source from which we came, learning all the while that the only terrain we traveled was within.
