Creativity Is The No 1 Status Symbol

A status symbol is some sort of possession used as an avatar of familial or personal worth - it can either be cultural or financial. As such, status symbol can be termed as social cues, just like a peacock's tail or the plumage of birds of paradise.

In most occasions, status symbol is much associated with financial affluence, though things seem to take a different approach nowadays. In a world that success oriented, whether in business or personal development, creativity is beginning to take root as an avatar of success.

However, it is something that most people look beyond without even thinking that it is something of much importance. But the truth is that it is the best gift that anyone can have, yet very few will allow it to be expressed freely.

The society of past never approved creativity, neither did it encourage it to blossom. This trend seem to be fading away with this generation though not as fast as it should. Why? Because our societies don't want people to think or build their own paths of success in life. For instance, when growing as a child to become adults, we were always told what we should do and what shouldn't do by the society.

As one Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up".

The systems used by schools are to a much extent limiting the creativity of children more than anything else as it focuses mainly on how a student can cram or memorize things that will be forgotten right after, which explains why most people hate it.

Since creativity is dependent on time, most people are often prepared to enter the real world with the decision of getting a job as an easy way out. As such, people continue living life the way society has dictated without thinking about what they can do to make things different for themselves. This is perhaps the reason why most of us lead a miserable life before 30, feeling like they've achieved nothing in life. It's the reason why most people in Generation Y feel so lost and don't know what to do or what decisions to make.

In today's world of business, the only way of attaining the social status that has always been associated with affluence is separating yourself from the pack, not with GPA you attained in class. But by thinking about yourself and make use of your inner creativity. Opportunities often come in form of a problem. But the problem with many people is that when they encounter a problem, they simply complain rather than trying to find a solution by using their creativity.

The current world is constantly expanding with new innovative concepts and ideas. Being able to create something that has never been seen before, whether it's a piece of art or a product, is entirely dependent on how you make use of your mind. However, not so many people are ready to allow their minds to trek outside their cubicles. Instead, they choose to get stuck in there for their entire lives.

It's about time that people realize that everyone needs to unleash the creativity in them. Those in leading roles must be ready to take the lead in encouraging creativity by solving problems in a creative manner. Such skills are what the future generation depends on. As an individual, you need to set free the creativity in you and understand the importance it holds as far as flourishing in business, career or life is concerned. Some of the ways through creativity can be manifested in an individual includes constant brainstorming and experimenting without judgment or criticism. What you should understand is that creativity makes life more fun and is actually what brings excitement and encouragement to continue in what you are trying to achieve.

As once said by Charles Mingus, "Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that's easy. What's hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity."

By embracing these wise words from the American jazz leader and double bassist, you will be on the right path of creativity and journey to stardom as you see yourself attain a status symbol admired by many.
