3 Things That Separate Great Guitar Players From Everyone Else

Want to become a great guitar player? There are 3 HUGE differences between great guitarists and mediocre guitarists. Get started becoming a great guitarist by learning them:

Great Guitar Players Stay Focused On Their Guitar Playing Goals

Poor guitarists make the mistake of practicing as many things as possible with no goal in mind. They believe this is how one becomes a great player. As a result, they may gain some skills in different areas, but by not focusing on any specific musical goal, they end up becoming overwhelmed and never really become great at anything.

Great guitar players choose specific goals and focus on using their practice time as effectively as possible to reach them. If you are not sure how to make your practice time effective, work together with an experienced guitar teacher who understands how to help you achieve your musical goals as fast as possible.

Great Guitar Players Believe They Can And Will Reach Their Goals

It is nearly impossible to have a musical goal, not believe you can achieve it and actually achieve it. No matter what musical goal you have, achieving that goal requires that you believe you CAN do it (Note: guitarists can often achieve much more than they think they can).

For example, when a poor guitarist listens to his favorite player playing a highly technical lick, he thinks, "I'll never be able to play like that." As a result, they never even try to learn how to play it (or at best settle for playing it in a very sloppy manner). A great guitarist thinks, "I may not be able to play like that now, but I WILL." This thought leads them to take the action necessary for achieving their goal.

Great Guitar Players Manage Frustration Exceptionally Well

Frustration either hurts your guitar playing or gives you a boost to take your guitar playing to the next level. Guitarists who never become great interpret frustration negatively and start believing they "aren't good enough", "can't play very well" or other disempowering thoughts. Great guitarists use frustration like a kind of fuel that burns inside them and use it to push themselves even harder to get better.

Remember, all of the best guitarists you ever heard of were total beginners at one one point. These guitarists chose to use their frustration to push themselves. Do the same and any musical goal is achievable.
