Rhetoric/Promises Versus Actions: The Trump Dilemma - 5 Examples
The existing President of the United States, was, to a large degree, elected, not because he articulated viable solutions, but, rather, due to his combination of promises, rhetoric, personality, and vitriol. Donald Trump demonstrated, and has continued to demonstrate, whether one supports or opposes him, he's a fighter. The ultimate dilemma, and challenge, however, is how that behavior is exhibited and manifested, and the potential ramifications, of his reliance of being oppositional, rather than unifying, and often, resorting to a combination of lying, blaming and complaining, often without providing any viable solutions, for the better. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine and discuss. 5 examples of the correlation and differences, between Mr. Trump's rhetoric, versus the most necessary actions.
1. Middle - class tax reform: Our President campaigned on, and continued, to articulate, he would sign the best tax reform legislation, ever, and it would focus on the middle - class! Unfortunately, however, although he often stated, he would insist the middle - class would be the greatest beneficiary of any reform, and even stated, it would not benefit him (in fact, claiming, he would be paying more taxes), nearly every independent economic analysis, has indicated his rhetoric, was significant, add - odds, with the reality, and the legislation, he signed, predominantly benefited larger corporations, and the wealthiest 1% of the American population. He and his legislative supporters have insistent, this will make employers hire more workers, and pay higher salaries, but history, should have taught us, this, so - called, Trickle Down Economics, has never benefited the middle - class!
2. Winning: We'll win so often, you'll get tired of winning, is what, Mr. Trump, often promised! However, while his supporters may have bought - into this rhetoric, and promises, most others, aren't quite sure, what this means and represents!
3. His personal skills: Trump based much of his campaign on being an outsider, and possessing certain skills, which he honed, in business. One, he often, emphasized, is how he was a world - class negotiator, but, we should have been forewarned, when Michael Bloomberg, said, Trump claims he'll do for America, what he did, for his businesses. He then paused, and continued by sighing, God forbid. Most objective observers have not witnessed that level of negotiating prowess, however!
4. Process: Serving as the President of the United States, differs, in many ways, from nearly any other position! Our greatest leaders have committed to learning the process, to ensure they become somewhat capable, and/ or positioned, to make some significant difference, for the better!
5. Civil rights/ liberties/ freedoms: The America, I know, and love, is based on being a true, Melting Pot, which has distinguished itself, from much of the rest of the world, by its commitment to civil rights, a variety of liberties and freedoms! President Trump has seemed to inspire, many of his followers, by his rhetoric and vitriol, which has pitted one group against another!
For America to be, the best it can be, and if the true desire, was, to, Make America Great Again, there must be a commitment to the respect for the rights, liberties and justice, which are core to our mission. Unfortunately, by attacking many Judges, the FBI, etc, and by making ethnic slurs, etc, he has seemed to prioritize rhetoric and vitriol, above core freedoms!
