Life tips for Digital Nomads
... and for everybody else! A collection of life learnings that helped me become the Sovereign Master of Myself and Enjoy the Good Life! This is not a "quick-fix", but if applied consistently and persistently it will pay off in the end!
Language
is an efficient and easy-to-use tool to measure your attitude and state, and to control it! Practice to listen to your own words/thoughts and adjust language if you feel low. Simple, clear, direct language will empower you; avoid those little words that signal hesitation and self-doubt. Example: Say out loud, and notice the difference between the following statements:
- I wish I could do
- I will do
Physiology
is another efficient and easy-to-use tool to measure your attitude and state, and to control it! Consider your posture... a person will feel the way they look and behave. Always smile whenever looking into a mirror. If feeling tired then deliberately open eyes really wide! Imagine a "hook" attached to the centre of your chest, pulling you forward and upward!
Similar to language, this is quite simple! And if applied consistently, may have a dramatic impact on the quality of your life!
And if you combine:
- Language
- Physiology
Time!
This precious gift... The most democratic of resources - every individual will get exactly 86400 seconds each day, regardless financial status, nationality and education. We can borrow money from a friend, we can save it to spend later... But time is 86400 seconds per day - period! We get it for free, regardless we work, sleep or idle. Time runs constantly; every single second is unique and will never come back.
So what to do with this precious gift? Make sure to spend your time wisely!
A positive attitude
is one of life's most important accessories. To focus on the positive certainly makes life easier and more enjoyable; and problems become easier to solve. Furthermore it is highly contagious! Make sure to always carry plenty of it.
Avoid negativity
Negative people have a tendency to drain energy from their environment. No thanks! Wield your armor of positivity and move on as soon as possible.
Spiritual/Intellectual environment
The people I have around me constitutes my "spiritual/intellectual environment", with even greater impact than my physical environment. Make sure to stay in touch with good friends and relatives also when travelling! Be polite and friendly towards all people you meet, with reasonable caution. Help offered is not always in the best interest of the traveller.
True friends
tell the truth even when it hurts. True friends are worst critics and best coaches. As Digital Nomad it is important to build a network of like-minded persons online. You may discover that your best friend from back home does not understand the everyday issues of your Digital Nomad life.
