We have to build, build, build at very deep levels to get where we genuinely want to go. That is where deep spiritual persistence comes in. I faced a crisis of futility a few hours ago that would make most people simply give up. But, I am not going to give up and I will tell you why. Reality, and I do not just mean the reality we all see or feel in front of us with our senses either, and I do mean reality, tells me that I should deeply persist. I should persist because we all ultimately have the same fortune, only the feelings about it differ. Some (a few) see adversity as the deepest opportunity there is and treat it as such. Many (more than a few) see adversity as something that is there to block, hinder and "mess up things", not looking creatively at the adversity for what is hidden within it that can cause better success than if "everything went well".
Stay with me here, and start thinking deeply about life for a while, especially your life (as I do mine): If everything is not going well, what is the real message behind what is happening? If everything is going well, how can I make it better, and "if it is not broken, do not fix it" cannot count, because complacency does breed apathy, and everything does go wrong at some point after that in reality just like you have to adjust the cruise control on a car or it will ultimately go too fast if you do nothing but "drive without a care in the world".
I realize that spirituality is a process, not something like "if it is not broken, do not fix it" ever. But I also, realize that ways to control reality exist for a reason such as meditation, prayer, mindfulness, chanting and everything else that controls and harnesses spiritual power. Indeed, to get where we really want to go is a process and never an easy end of "if it is not broken, do not fix it" and that is the genuine honest reality of the situation and the truth all in one. Vigilance and persistence is always awarded, and consciousness of gratitude is always beneficial. Without those though, taking things for granted, and "if it is not broken, do not fix it" becomes the rule, and the most genuine disaster comes to the fore. So, the only way to make permanent success is to eternally be vigilant, persistent and grateful. I did not make this up, that is how it works.
My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases, but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest action taker. I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer.
