It's funny how companies give people authority over other people without evaluating a person's ability to handle authority, nor taking the time to properly train people prior to arming them with such power. Managers and supervisors control the moral of a particular setting. For instance, I've had many jobs, and I've had to deal with many different people of authority. I've had jobs that I really liked, but dreaded going to work simply because of the supervisor(s) and I ended up quitting for that reason. I've had jobs that I didn't like, but the supervisors were awesome, so I ended up staying there longer than I would have or should have. Most of the time, it wasn't just me that did or didn't accept the supervision. The entire department openly shared the same feeling towards management and that changes the morale of the workforce, essentially effecting the quality and/or the quantity of the workload(s). Many people don't know how to handle situations where people of authority are disrespectful or even threatening. Most people don't know their rights in that capacity and an abundant amount of people would just prefer not to deal with it at all, so they do what they can to keep the supervisor(s) happy or at least satisfied.
Law enforcement official are another example of people whom abuse their authority on a daily basis. I could talk about police officers for days, but I don't really feel the need to, because if you had any encounter with a law enforcement official, and I suspect everybody in the world has had at least one, and I'm not trying to upset anyone, by bringing up bad memories, but you already know how true that statement is. If you have not experienced this type bullying first hand, then you've seen it on tv. I've had several encounters with law enforcement officials and none of those encounters were even satisfying, especially the times when I had to contact them.
Let's not forget about the big corporations that we made big corporations by purchasing their product or service for so long that they have become so powerful as to get away with doing whatever they want to pretty much anyone, because they feel like we need them more than they need us, also known as "Corporate Bullying".
And the biggest bully that we have to deal with is the US Government. There is no fighting the US Government. Whatever they say... pretty much goes. Most of us have/had to learn this the hard way.
Bullying causes people stress, frustration, anger and anguish and it negatively effects society on many different levels. Most people can't take their frustrations and anger out on their supervisors, because they may get fired, nor can they on law enforcement officials, because they carry guns. Corporations just won't respond and the U.S. Government, you can just forget about that. So what do we do? We take our frustrations out on unsuspecting innocent people in our lives, such as family members, co-workers, neighbors, people that work in customer service at our frequented stores, pets, or anybody else that should cross our path. A great deal of people resort to drugs and alcohol in hopes to forget about it all, in which has many negative side effects that may result in serious involuntary injury and in some cases... death. But unfortunately, some people resort to violence and destruction, in which may result in serious voluntary injury and in some cases... death and it's mostly due to people dealing, or should I say, not knowing how to deal with bullying.
