Wouldn't it be better, if those we elect, to serve and represent us, proceeded, with the finest intentions, and earned our trust and admiration, by putting our interests, ahead of their self - interests, and/ or personal/ political agenda? Unfortunately, as indicated and demonstrated, by nearly every public opinion poll, politicians, are, consistently, considered, the least trustworthy, and most un - trusted group, by the vast majority of Americans. Although, this has been true, for generations, in recent times, perhaps because of the increase in focus, on partisan (rather than bipartisan) approaches, even fewer people, believe in their elected officials. With that in mind, this article will attempt, to, briefly, examine and consider, using the mnemonic approach, why this is important, and how our representatives, might earn our TRUST.
1. Tell the truth: While this might seem obvious, very few of those, we elect, consistently, tell the truth, and maintain their integrity. We have witnessed a man, who was elected to the highest office in the land, in the Presidential election, of 2016, who, political, fact - checkers, state, has made 5 to 6, misstatements, and/ or lies, per day, since he took office. Donald Trump, rather than earning our trust, seems to prioritize, articulating a message, focused on his political agenda, and/ or self - interest!
2. Responsive; reliable; relevant: When President Trump, has resorted to consistently, blaming and complaining others, rather than introducing reliable, relevant, viable solutions, it tends to polarize, rather than unify, our citizens! Wouldn't we be better served, if our political leaders, prioritized, being responsive, to those, who elect them?
3. Useful; urge: Measure the specific public official, by listening to what he seems to prioritize, and/ or, urge, rather than his empty rhetoric and promises. Are the suggestions useful, in a relevant, realistic manner?
4. System; sustainable solutions: Far too often, people vote for someone, who focused, solely on some, emotional, current obstacle, even if he introduces, no relevant, realistic solution! Wouldn't you be more likely to trust, and believe in, someone, who, rather than trying to be popular, perceived and conceived of, created, introduced, developed and implemented a quality system, based on the finest, sustainable solutions!
5. Trends; timely: Avoid clinging to the past, and following the same - old, same - old, ways, and look, to someone, who might pay attention, to relevant trends, which might make a quality difference, for the better! We need political leaders, who are ready, willing and able, to take well - considered, timely actions!
Wake up, America, and pay more attention, to electing the right people, who will best serve, the nation and electorate! How might our representatives earn our TRUST?
