The Motivation Battle In Your Mind

Do you wonder why you have no energy or why the word "workout" brings on such a feeling of dread? Do you feel powerless in your life on how to affect any kind of change? How many times have you heard this same description used for various workshops you have taken or books you have read on how to change your life by changing your motivation? And despite these resources, how many times have you slipped back into those past non-productive patterns of behavior and you are stumped as to how to actually change those patterns?

Can you become powerful and have a life filled with enthusiasm and zeal? There are many classes and books out there today advertising many ways to change your motivation and patterns of behavior. One such book stated the seven secrets to motivation and named them. Focus, belief, habits, emotional reactions, energy, your surroundings, and time management. Even though these are wonderful tools to help you identify the problems, how do you implement them in your life? There are books and magazines galore out there that help you identify problems, but you still have the quandary of how to implement the new set of patterns. You have to remember that identifying the problem areas is half the battle. Now you have to overcome the patterns, and that's where the battle lies.

You probably believe that your emotional state can significantly impact your mind, but does it impact your body, or the disease you are battling, or even your motivation? Our emotional state can create a lot of stress in our day-to-day lives and our every day battles are very comparable to how our ancestors would handle stress. If a bear came at them, their amygdala would take control, pumping blood to the arms and legs, raising their blood pressure and heart rate, preparing them to run away or to fight. It's called the "fight or flight" response. However, the stress that we create in our lives today is not just a one-time bear attack; it is an ongoing realistic part of almost every day life. We are at a heightened emotional stress level on a daily basis, which is very bad for the body, and creates all sorts of very real physical and emotional problems.

In a heightened, emotionally stressed state, energy gets pumping as our adrenals go on overdrive; however, the ability to process food normally, effectively burn calories, lose weight, and build muscle go out the window, as they aren't important in your need to fight or flea. When the adrenals are on overdrive they eat up as much magnesium as they can, leaving your body deficient. Your cholesterol and triglycerides go up, blood pressure increases, and your stomach flora decreases, which then creates allergies, gastroesophageal reflux or heartburn, high blood pressure, etc. Along with all of this, your cortisol and insulin levels increase, leaving you prone to even more things, such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome, heart problems, and central obesity. Stress is bad every way you look at it. But stress is especially bad with regards to your energy level, ability to function in a motivated state, or even have the physical ability to do so. No wonder motivation is such a hard state to maintain.

Stress is definitely one key component, but there are also other problems, like memories or emotions, that keep you stuck on the couch. How about that memory from your youth where you were bullied, or the memory of being told how lazy you were and that you would never amount to anything? Memories such as these are key components, and lead to thought processes that you subconsciously fight all the time, such as, "I'm not good enough to do this", or "Nothing I do is going to be good enough." This most often ends up being a battle of the will and the subconscious usually wins. All of these components, combined with the physical problems they create, like disease, are associated with the emotional state we are in. This leads to a serious lack of motivation to do just about anything, except just exist day-to-day, never realizing those dreams we had or progressing forward in our lives.

So why not just release the problems as we identify them? I know, it is kind of a revolutionary approach. Clear away the brush so that the path stays clear! But how do you do that? Psychological Acupressure! Simply put, clearing the pathway to healing is the power of psychological acupressure.

You've heard how acupressure can heal different meridians in the body that block energy, right? Well, the psychological part of this with emotions and trauma is done in a very similar way. You tap at the central point, the third eye for the body, or the gamut point for the brain, and combine that with a sentence that draws the brain to what the body is feeling, or vice versa, and you clear it out and then replace it with what you truly want to feel.

This doesn't magically remove a memory or trauma, but what it does is it allows your brain and your body to release it as being a very traumatic event with a very traumatic emotion so that the memory is just that... a memory. It doesn't have power over you any more. It's amazing how much power we give emotions and memories without realizing it. We become victims to that trauma and become powerless to change it.

The first thing to do is to use the psychological acupressure to bring your subconscious energy in line with what you truly want to do. This is called a "reversal." Sometimes when that memory is from a long time ago, you have a tendency to believe it. A reversal changes that energy so you actually do want to clear it out and get rid of that constant thought.

To do this, you take the part of your body known as the third eye point, right where a cyclops eye would be, and make a statement like, "Even though I don't want to calm the stress center of my brain, I choose to change it and calm my Amygdala," and "Even though I don't want to get over these issues and memories dealing with motivation, I choose to get over them and have amazing motivation and will power." This will reverse your energy in your subconscious and allow it to be in sync with your mind on what you want to do.

A powerful reversal is that one you use when you don't think anything will ever change and you just want to end it by committing suicide. Reversing that energy, even just for a few days, can let you see that life is always in flux and is ever changing. Just take a deep breath, reverse that energy, and see how it changes. It's amazing!

The next step is to tap out the stress response in your amygdala and calm it down. Your amygdala is the part of the brain that is responsible for the "fight or flight" response. To do this, you need to tap this statement at the gamut point, as this is dealing with the brain. The gamut point is on the back of either hand, in between the pinky and the ring fingers, in the little valley there and then back about a half inch. This point ties in right to your brain, as the optic nerve is directly linked to parts of the brain, so you do specific eye motions as you tap this area in order to direct your energy to that specific area of the brain. Use two fingers and tap in a gentle way with medium pressure, "Even though my amygdala is hyperactive causing a low-level stress response in my body, I choose to be calm and centered." At this point, do your eye motions as you keep tapping that point. Look down hard to the right, look down hard to the left, Now tap on top of your head and make the statement, "I choose to be calm and centered." Take a deep breath and release the stress as you breath out.

After calming down the amygdala, it should calm down the low-level stress response and put you back into a non-stress level state. Now your body will calmly go back to a normal state of being. However, stress has a way of coming at you again and again all day long. Clearing past trauma associated with the amygdala is important, but until you can do it with a professional, just keep clearing your amygdala three or four times a day for awhile to keep you in a good calm and centered state.

After calming down the brain center, you now need to keep on working at ridding yourself of those past memories and thought processes you say to yourself, ones that keep you on that couch and not doing what you want to do in your life.

Ways to tap out these events/emotions would be to just take a moment when you feel particularly unmotivated and try to evaluate why you feel that way. If a memory or thought process comes up, try tapping the emotion/thought out exactly as you think it. This would start at the third eye point again and the sentence to do this would be something like, "Even though I feel so incompetent and don't believe in my own abilities to do this, I choose to correct this and not only accept myself but choose to believe in myself and have the power to change my life." Do the same thing with traumas that you can remember, where you feel those same emotions.

When you clear out these emotions and thought processes, and your body is out of its stress response, you feel emotionally clear and free, fully capable to do what you need to do. Try this technique in relation to any of the problems you have identified in past classes or even the thought processes that come up when you read a book and clear out the old beliefs.

You can even clear out those patterns of behaviors the same way. When you Identify a pattern you do when you want to avoid something, tap in both the third eye and gamut point that you have this pattern of behavior that you chose to correct and choose to be able to identify that you are doing that pattern as you do it and correct it. Too often we identify the pattern after we did it. Tap at that point too to clear the pattern.

When you work with your subconscious not against it you bring your energy in sync with what you truly want to do in your life and you will have an extraordinary life. That is your empowerment, taking your power back, and choosing to move forward. You can choose to tap, or not to tap, but I have now given you the key. The next step is yours.

How To Best, HEAL Yourself?

While we all know, physicians are advised, to do no harm, and seek the advice of others, when their own health, is concerned, the wisest, healthiest, individuals, are those, who pay keen attention, and take a large degree of personal responsibility, for maximizing their own personal health! This includes: paying attention to changes (examine for spots, bumps, new areas of discomforts, etc); and consulting their trusted, health professional, on a proactive basis, to best address any issues, before they become more serious. Since, in a large number of circumstances, those health issues, addressed in a timely basis, often, cause far fewer threatening conditions. In other words, a wise person, does, as much as possible, to HEAL himself, or, at least, do no harm! With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.

1. Honest; healing; head/ heart: Don't lie to yourself, or deny any health condition. When you are honest, you pay attention, sooner, rather than later, and you assist, your overall, healing process! Take advantage of your logical components, as well as emotional ones, using a head/ heart balance!

2. Energy/ energize; emphasis/ emphasize; enrich; endurance; excellence: Anything which improves your personal energy, and positively, energizes you, improves your overall health, happiness, and well - being! When you know, the best place to put your emphasis, and emphasize, whatever, serves your best - interest, you enrich your life, and chances, to enjoy it, more fully. Remember, living should be more of a marathon, than a sprint, and the healthiest people, proceed with personal endurance, and a desire for personal excellence, consistently!

3. Attitude; attention; actions; aptitude: When one maintains a positive, can - do, attitude, he places the bulk of his attention, on how to get the best things done, and achieved, instead of worrying about, what might go wrong! Learning, as much as possible, about your options, alternatives, and choices, enhances your aptitude, and helps you make quality decisions, and take smart actions!

4. Listen/ learn; lessons; love/ like: Doesn't it make sense, if you made an unwise decision, in the past, it is smart, to learn from these lessons, so you don't repeat them, and put yourself, at greater risk? Listen to the advice of qualified, trusted, health professions, and learn, as much as you possibly can! Behave in such a way, which will make you like your decisions and actions, and, try to love yourself, as much as you possibly can!

How Much Sleep Do You Need?: 5 Considerations

There are so many factors, to consider, when trying to determine, the best approach, and your personal needs, to live, a happier, healthier lives, and existence! One, which is often, overlooked, and we pay, far too little attention to, is the quality, and quantity of our sleep. While, it's true, different people, need different amounts of sleep, each of us has, certain, specific needs, and necessities! While medical books, and certain health practitioners, state specific requirements/ needs, based on age, and overall health, and other factors, it is important, we each make the decision, for ourselves, based on what makes us feel better/ best. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 5 considerations, for determining this, on an individual basis.

1. Individual needs: How much sleep, might be optimum, is large individual, in nature! How many hours is realistic for you? When do you get tired, at night? How early do you wake up? When do you need, to awake, because of job and/ or other obligations? Are you tired, at any time of day, with the amount you presently get? Do you sometimes, nap, during the day?

2. When you must arise: What time, do you need, to get up, in the morning? Would it be realistic to stream - line, your daily/ morning routine? How long is your morning commute? Would you be better off, relocating, if the commute, is extremely long, and stressful?

3. Lifestyle: Based on one's lifestyle, there may be different sleep needs, and requirements! What is your routine, and does it serve you, well? Are you happy, and relatively, stress - free, with your present existence?

4. Age - related: As we age, our sleep requirements may, differ, significantly! Obviously, infants require more sleep than people, in the twenties. Teenagers may go to sleep, later, and awake, later? During college years, many individuals, seem to need, fewer hours. As we get older, most people, although they might want more rest, sleeping is often, challenging, based on other needs, such as more frequent bathroom visits, other aches and pains, etc.

5. How do you feel? The bottom - line, when it comes to this bodily function, is, how do you presently feel? Are you tired, often? Are other areas of your lifestyle, healthy, such as your diet and exercise, medications (including supplements, etc)? What might you be willing to change, and why?

Don't ignore your sleep - requirements, because they do, affect your health! Do all you can, to optimize your personal health, happiness, and well - being!

Work Got You Stressed? Let Go Using These Timely Tips

Stress is part of everyone's life and work. Whether you work for someone else, run your own small business, or are a solopreneur, the better you manage your work stress, the happier and more productive you'll be in all facets of your life. So, while stress may be here to stay, it doesn't have to be in the driver's seat!

Work Stress and How to Relieve It

First, it's important to identify the source of your stress. Work stress usually falls into any one of four categories:

Work overload and overwhelm,

Difficult co-workers,

Overly demanding or unreasonable bosses, and

Anxiety stemming from uncertain economic times

The list may seem overwhelming in and of itself, but the good news is that there really are things that you can do to relieve these stressors. And many of them are things that you can put into action right away for yourself.

Let's start by looking at work overload.

If you're feeling overwhelmed start by scanning your schedule. Can you change your routine or rearrange something to find more time to get the job done? Are there tasks you can eliminate temporarily? Or could someone else pick them up for you? Being proactive and making even small changes eases things considerably.

If you continue to feel swamped and have a boss, speak to him or her. Communication is key, both for working things out and as another stress reliever. Simply sharing your feeling may open you to new possibilities.

What about the stress of co-workers who don't see eye-to-eye?

There are difficult people in all walks of life, and this is something you're likely to face no matter where you work. But, you don't have to let it stress you out.

One excellent stress management technique is to confront the issue directly. If the problem continues and you can't ignore it, another possible solution would be to ask to be moved to a different department or area. Another option to consider is to not respond or engage around the behavior that is bothersome, but try to connect in some other way. Either the person will respond by leaving you alone or, maybe better yet, he or she may befriend you. Either way, you are reducing your stress. This is the most helpful and growthful solution.

How about the overly demanding boss?

First of all, remember, your boss is your boss. It is usually unwise to approach this person in a confrontational manner. However, that doesn't mean you can't try talking.

To do this successfully, you'll want to schedule a meeting ahead of time. Then, before it happens, spend some time writing out your thoughts. This in itself relieves your stress because you feel clear and prepared. It will also help you state your case and stay on topic. Don't come across as blaming or condescending. Remember that your power lies in how you respond; but your boss does have power over your employment. So, if speaking your mind doesn't have the impact you'd hoped for, you'll need to let it go. Work to find the positive learning embedded in this experience. Let yourself be guided by your steadiness and discipline.

Anxiety about the future fuels stress.

Probably the biggest cause of stress in the workplace these days is fear and uncertainty about these tough economic times. There are no guarantees in this economy. That's hard to live with, so, how do you relieve some of the stress and fear?

Well, one thing is to be proactive and start preparing for the future. This might mean learning a new skill or trade. Maybe it could involve starting an on-line business or exploring saleable talents you might have. A little research and planning can relieve stress about the future, as well as opening up doors you might not have imagined!

And one bonus tip about stress...

No matter what is causing your stress, working out regularly is an excellent way to release energy and relieve overwhelm, frustration, and anxiety. You don't have to belong to a gym. You can find ways to work out anywhere - and the benefits are palpable. It's well worth the investment of time that it takes!

RAID Data Recovery Tips and Tricks

Often, important data is stored in reliable RAID systems. The primary reason is that raid systems are used as they are more fault-tolerant. In other words, it is easy to configure RAID systems while the system is still running. The failing drives can be replaced without shutting down the entire system. In this article, we are going to talk about a few tips and tricks for raid data recovery.

As with any other electronic device, RAID drives are also prone to failure. If one drive fails, it is possible to offset the failure. However, this is not possible if a lot of drives fail. Typically, many drivers in the system tend to fail.

Keep in mind that RAID systems consist of the same hard drives found in a personal computer. Therefore, these systems have problems similar to those of personal computers. In fact, engineers have to deal with complex problems when they need to fix RAID systems. Common problems include drive failures, controller failures, and accidental reconfiguration of RAID drives.

Although RAID systems are much stronger and reliable, they may have problems from time to time. Given below are a few tips that you can follow to deal with the RAID failure, prevent further loss and recover the lost data.

DON'T DO-IT-YOURSELF!

Some people make the mistake of recovering data from their RAID drives. This is a common mistake. Even if you know how to retrieve data from a hard drive, make sure you don't do it yourself.

For data recovery, you have a higher rate of success during the first attempt. Therefore, it is a good idea to contact a professional data recovery service. This is important if you want to prevent further loss and recover as much data as possible.

DON'T Try to REBUILD THE RAID

Another common mistake is to rebuild the RAID. Doing so may overwrite the information on the controller. This information tells the RAID controller how and where to get the required data. Rebuilding the RAID will make it much more difficult or even impossible to look for and recover The Lost files.

DON'T Try to REMOVE THE DRIVES

It is not a good idea to remove the drives from the RAID array. Doing so may overwrite important data. If you have to remove the drives for some reason, make sure to label them first. Once you have labeled them based on their order, you can remove them and put them back in the same order.

DON'T use Recovery Tools

Again, you may not want to run any data recovery tools as these tools may change data. As a result, you may find it hard to recover the lost data using a different technique. So, it is better not to use any data recovery software.

DON'T FORMAT or Reinitialize

If you format or reinitialize the drives, this may overwrite the data pointers and catalogues. This process will delete your important data.

DON'T Use UNCONFIRMED BACKUPS

If you are 100% sure that the backups you created contain the same data stored on the RAID drives, you can restore your critical data from the backups. However, if you are in doubt, make sure you don't try to restore data from doubtful backups.

So, make sure you follow these tips to recover data from RAID drives.

These Are The Times That Try Men's Souls

"These are the times that try men's souls." Remember that quote? Some 250 years later we are again facing times that try men's souls. From wave after wave of violent carnage that shows no signs of abating, an economy all based upon a house of cards that is poised to crumble at a minutes notice, a world on the edge of a Global Warming catastrophe, and the massive depth and scope of corruption in not only our political system but now has reached our legal system as well. These are all signs of the times that try men's souls.

When hear stories about people faced with medical bills amidst the scarcity of financial means to cover their high medical costs the tragic outcomes are all too common place today. When we hear stories of how high end developers swoop in on unsuspecting homeowners using high pressure tactics and even fraud to force foreclosure is an epidemic stretching all across the country. When we here stories of how so many people lack the basic necessities like food, clean fresh water, proper sanitation and are forced to live in squalor due to the ever increasing cost of living is a travesty that should not be occurring in the United States today. Yet, this indicates that these really are the times that try men's souls.

It was some 55 years ago that Dr. Martin Luther King spoke so passionately about what we as a society have to aspire to. But, for the past 50 years our society has steadily lost that moral compass that steadied a fledging nation some 250 years ago. For the past two decades there has been a seismic shift in the demographics of our society that has undermined the stability of the United States.

The deep divides that have kept this nation so unstable have been exasperated by not only the ever widening wealth disparity gap but a political system that has become so corrupt and ripe with self serving bureaucrats. Where there is corruption and oligarchy rule only fuels the flames of hate, ignorance and apathy that have become so common place in our society today.

The decisions that have been made by government too many times those decisions have not alleviated the many economic and social ills that plague this nation. When elected officials fail their constituents as the case of too many in congress and today's occupant in the White House the travesties that are occurring will keep reoccurring.

There is another facet to consider and that is the rise of corporate owned media outlets that have consistently put monetary concerns over unbiased reporting. Journalism in it's truest form has to be unbiased, free from opinions and factual. The three R's: When, Where, and Why are essential components to every news story. When reporters report news with their own opinion or in collaboration with their editors opinion to encourage bias reporting for the sole purpose of promoting an agenda where that purpose is monetary gain for the owners of the corporate owned media is a detriment to a free democratic society.

We see it today when one or two Presidential Candidates have outlined agendas that would offset those oligarchs that control Washington, and our everyday lives. It is then they will do everything they can to thwart the election of those that will unseat the status-quo. It is up to we the people to filter out that bias in the news that purposely and intentionally is undermining those candidates. Remember a democratic society can only flourish when the majority of the public are well educated, and participate in the democratic process. Sad to say based on our academic record as a nation we have only fallen in educational standards that used to be of the highest caliber some fifty years ago. And, for the past election cycles there has never been more than 45% voter turn out. We as a nation are failing America. These really are the times that try men's souls.

Surety Bond Quacks Like a Duck

Isn't that a great expression? "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck... "

This article is about a problem we see often: Cases where the type of surety bond was not correctly identified, wrong app was used, time wasted, etc. It happened again this past week:

The agent called us with a performance bond need, about $10,000. They has used a short form application and sent it to another surety that rejected it. The reason given "the applicant was the principal." The applicant is always the principal, so this didn't help. We dug deeper.

The client and agent thought they needed a performance (P&P) bond, but we quickly identified it as a Site Bond - most sureties don't do them. Let's go through the key questions and characteristics that make it easy to recognize a site bond when it quacks.

Quick Primer:

A Performance and Payment bond guarantees a construction contract in which the Applicant / Principal is paid by the Obligee to perform the work.

Site Bond are written with the city or township as Obligee, guaranteeing that a developer or property owner will build required "public improvements" at their own expense, then dedicate them to the township.

Here are three key questions to get you on the right track:

Q. Who is the Obligee that is requiring the bond?

A. On site bonds, it is always the township or city whose planning board has approved the project.

Q. Is there a construction contract?

A. On site bonds there is no contract between the township and the property owner or contractor. On P&P bonds there is always a contract between the principal and the obligee.

Q. How did the need for the bond arise?

A. On site bonds, the township or township engineer writes to the property owner describing the need for the bond, the work it will cover "public improvements" and the dollar value. On P&P Bonds there are written specifications (requirements) and a construction contract.

Another clue that helped us quack, I mean crack, this case was the low dollar amount. You could get site bonds for less than $5,000 but it would be extremely rare to go that low on a P&P bond.

So now when one lands on your desk, you'll recognize it. Any of your commercial clients could need one when they upgrade or modify their property. The next question is to choose a market. Most sureties don't write them - that's a problem.

5 Tips to Choose the Right Gas Flow Meter

It is great to have choices but it may be overwhelming to have too many choices. Opting for the right type of gas flow meter is important for business operations and processes. Typically, measurement professionals use gas flow meters on a regular basis for different applications. Therefore, if you are going to make a choice, make sure you understand the basics first. Given below are some important things to keep in mind when making this purchase.

1. Type

You may want to consider the gas properties that will pass through the meter as well. In fact, this is the most important factor that you may want to keep in mind.

This will help you create a shortlist of devices that may help you meet your needs for years to come. For assistance, you can consult a professional as well. They will guide you much better.

2. Use

Typically, e gas flow meter has multiple uses. Therefore, you may want to know the purpose for which you are going to buy this meter. For example, you may consider the temperatures, gas type, and turndown ratio, just to name of you.

3. Chemical Compatibility

Make sure that the material of the meter can support the chemical properties of the gas. The reason is that some materials may have an impact on the durability of the matter. If the material is low quality, it may not be able to work properly over the long haul.

What you need to do is test the material to make sure it won't cause any problem in the future. After all, you don't want to get in any trouble just because you want to save a few dollars.

So, it is not a good idea to consider the short term savings. The reason is that cheap gas flow meters may not be high quality. On the other hand, if you spend a bit more and get a better quality product, it will be cost-effective in the future.

5. Durability

Make sure that the gas flow meter you are going to buy can stand the test of time. You may ask the seller about the failure rate of the device. The longevity of the device is a factor that may increase or decrease the price of the product.

All these steps will make it easier for you to buy the right product, make sure you get in touch with the professionals to choose the best product to meet your needs. Spending a bit more is a great idea if you want to buy a gas flow meter that can last several years without any problem.

How to Practice the Ultimate Skill

If you want to take your self-improvement to the next level...

(And, you know, if you're reading this then that's likely... )

... then there's one skill for you to learn first.

Why this one before anything else?

Well, there's no rule which says you have to do it this way.

But if you do, it'll save you a lot of bouncing around in the meantime.

Because it's the skill of learning.

Because some folk take self-improvement all too casually.

They read a book once a month... but don't do anything with it.

They go to the gym twice a week... without tracking their progress.

They play with language learning apps... and can't form a single useful sentence.

If that's your style, then you don't have to learn how to best learn. You're into growth for the fun of it, but not actual development.

For those of you who want to take this to the next level, you're going to want to figure out how. Because you could waste a lot of time and energy on inefficient projects.

You might not going to want to hear this. It's a harsh lesson in a way.

But you can't assume you're good enough at learning to achieve everything you want to.

Like everything else, learning is a skill. You might have some innate talent for it. Either way, if you don't train it hard and smart, you're not going to reach your potential.

So here's how you learn better:

Start with what you want to know. Put boundaries on it. Do you want to learn a language? If so, which one? Do you want to be fluent - to be mistaken for a native speaker? Or do you just want to tour the country without relying on English?

Then you want to figure out why.

Maybe you're curious about the topic.

Perhaps it's something that'll lead to a better job or a higher salary.

It could be you have a vision on how to change the world - if you have in your head the ultimate video game, then you'd better learn computer programming.

Once you know why, you move onto how.

How are you going to learn?

How are you going to practice? Because remember, learning isn't about reading or listening. It's about doing. It's about getting your hands dirty, making mistakes and forging deep connections in your mind.

And how are you going to check your progress?

With practice exams, real world scenarios, jumping in the deep end... ?

Then there's what.

The day to day tasks that build the skill.

Following from your why to your how to your what, you create a roadmap for learning. Follow it and you can't go too far wrong.

You can begin that simple self-improvement technique now.

And enjoy its benefits for the rest of your life.

If you really want to take your mind to new places? To improve more you dreamed possible?

Do You Need An Encourager In Your Life Now?

Do you need an encourager in your life now? Ever needed one in the past? Are you an encourager? Just so we are on the same page if you decide to read this article - an encourager is someone who - guess what - yes, encourages others. But, is there more to the idea of being an encourager? Yes, and I know firsthand what role an encourager can have in our life when we are heading in the wrong direction, hitting bottom or just feel like no one cares.

During my years I have had many occasions when I was in desperate need of encouragement rather than invalidation. And, on some occasions, these people showed up and, on many occasions, I was left alone to navigate life's challenges, trials, adversity and failures alone. I have learned both the hard way and the easy way the importance of having encouragers in our lives when we need them.

How about you - ever had to deal with a life issue alone and no one was in your corner or maybe even no one who cared? I can tell you if you have never been there that these times can be very trying life circumstances that can stretch us to our limits of faith, patience, hope, and belief forcing us to reach deep and find something we didn't even know we had.

What is the role of an encourager?

Encouragers are not in our lives to pave the way forward so that we can aimlessly wander through life's circumstances, lessons and challenges without effort, learning, fear or even guaranteed success. Encouragers are teachers. They are caring and compassionate souls who want to help us learn life's lessons with as little pain and trauma as possible but they are not in our lives to help us avoid what life wants and needs us to learn so we can be productive humans regardless of our roles, responsibilities or opportunities. Encourages can cheer us on, root for us and listen to our concerns and needs but their role is not to remove the learning from our lives that are necessary to master so we can grow and become productive in whatever fashion we have chosen.

Encouragers don't remove the pain or drama from our life, but they help us to find the inner courage, belief, and resilience to handle it, manage it, overcome it and yes learn from it.

Who can be an encourager?

Encouragers can be family, friends, co-workers, customers and even total strangers. I can recall years ago sitting in an airport waiting to board a flight when I was having a conversation with a total stranger. FYI - ever had one of those - where you shared intimate inner fears, dreams, plans, hopes or frustrations with a total stranger who you knew you would never see again? Happens all the time and why? We all need times to share, express and cathart and if we don't have people in our routine lives who can fill this role, we will reach out to anyone and everyone from time to time.

Back to my example - I shared with them the frustration of dealing with a challenging client that I had been working with for years. They listened respectfully as I went on for what seemed forever, and they finally asked a simple question. "Why are you tolerating this behavior and not just cutting the cord and moving on?" This is not what I thought I wanted to hear or felt I needed to hear but it was what they chose to share, and you know what - in reality, it was exactly what I needed to hear.

I could have shared this with a spouse at the time or a few good friends and peers but was unable to admit the frustration to them so I just kept it bottled up inside me to the detriment of other relationships and activities in my life that kept deteriorating due to my lack of ability or willingness to address the issue. Finally, with the help of a total stranger, I was able to move one.

Ever been there? How about family, friends and even neighbors who from time to time are needed to help us weather life's storms?
How can we handle stuff when we don't have an encouraged in our life?
Trials, tribulations, adversity, disappointment, failure, etc. are all a normal part of living. To deny them is to be naive and immature. So, what are we to do when they strike with or without warning? There are dozens of ways to manage life's negative circumstances and while some are more efficient than others many can be a waste of time, energy and even resources.

Enter the encourager, someone who can help you, support you, believe in you, teach you, encourage you and care. No one likes going through adversity alone especially when we are unable to see clearly the resources, solutions or answers that are obvious and right in front of us.

No one wants to feel abandoned or without someone who cares when life's negatives show up on our doorstep. We all need emotional support from time to time regardless of our age, gender, financial status or education.

Without encouragers in our lives during challenging times we will tend to overreact, fall into depression, feel hopeless, make dumb decisions or just isolate ourselves from the world.

Encouragers are an important part of our lives and believe me having gone through many negative life experiences alone I treasure a few of the encouragers I have had during my life. "Thant you - each and every one of you."

What does it take to be an encourager for others?

I'll keep this final question short and to the point. To be an encourager you need some or many of the following traits, characteristics, attitudes, beliefs, values, etc.

-You care about the influence you have on others.
-You believe in the value of the human spirit in others.
-You do not have a selfish bone in your body.
-You always put others ahead of yourself.
- You have a giving spirit.
- You want to leave a legacy of service.
- You have the ability, to be honest even when the message might be perceived as negative.
- You have a healthy self-esteem.
- You don't need the approval of others to feel personal value.
- You are a listener.
- You do not have personal agendas whole encouraging others.

Yes, there are many others, but these are a few of the basics.

Got any of these traits? Need them from someone else?

Eco-Efficiency in Policy Analytics for Program Management

Although many people might see protection of IP as being counter to the ideal of a university's mission to educate, nothing can be farther from the goal or truth of IP protection. Protection does not mean that others do not learn about the invention or discovery, it simply does allow the developer or inventor to retain the right to generate products from the invention. Additionally, because patents require a full written description of the technology, a patent is DESIGNED to advance the body of knowledge for us all. (Rondelli, 2014)

San Diego State University is closely tied to its community internally as a program manager and fund generating force as well as externally being a steward for broad community development and investment in the local environment.

The Technology Transfer program that has most bearing on San Diego State University's environmental community is the partnership with the State of California's Energy Commission Energy Innovations Small Grant Program.

The Energy Innovations Small Grant (EISG) Program provides up to $95,000 for hardware projects and $50,000 for modeling projects to small businesses, non-profits, individuals and academic institutions to conduct research that establishes the feasibility of new, innovative energy concepts. Research projects must target one of the PIER R&D areas, address a California energy problem, and provide a potential benefit to California electric and natural gas ratepayers. (Energy Innovations Small Grant Program, 2014)

This program is administered by Frank H. Steensnaes and is run from the San Diego State University Research Foundation's office located at 6495 Alvarado Ct. Suite 103, San Diego, California 92182. The far-reaching effects of this program impact many academic institutions, private commercial enterprises, and civil organizations. The delivery of this program has influenced the energy and financial markets in California and throughout the country. To facilitate understanding of the regional environmental ecosystem surrounding San Diego State University, it is crucial for us to consider the broader sustainability perspective of the institution. San Diego State is dedicated to the delivery of social, ecological, and economic growth for it community and students.

Inspiration

Defining Sustainability

"In today's world, the energy we use and the ways we use it are changing. For California to make the leap from the status quo to achieving climate and energy goals at the lowest possible cost, we need much more energy innovation" (Energy Innovations Small Grant Program, 2014). It is from this premise that the need to create a framework to provide program management that also adheres to eco-efficiency principles must manifest. This framework promises leadership in structure and outcomes, it also offers a paradigm for stewardship in business relationships so collaboration can move forward. It will be crucial that every step of innovation stake its inherent value to society by seamlessly adhering to social, ecological, and economic parameters.

Sustainability can be defined in terms of eco-efficiency. "In simplest terms, it means creating more goods and services with ever less use of resources, waste and pollution" (Development, 2000). By defining sustainability in this manner, we see the integration of people, planet, and profit into a workable framework. The need to provide a prescriptive methodology for adherence to specific goals and desired outcomes becomes a focal point not only for the Technology Transfer program, but also to my organization in harmonizing efforts to report and commercialize innovations.

Vision

In order to manifest our desired ending, we must first understand the state of the outcome before rushing to obtain that conclusion. The Research Foundation Technology Transfer program envisions a state of being that produces academic projects with economic value. The ability to foster innovation into real-world applications is the desired outcome. With unbridled capacity to assist students, faculty, and the community into gratifying and rewarding ventures, it is possible to provide the nurturing and profitable environments so many seek when pursuing higher education. San Diego State University is in the business of research, scholarship, and creativity. The execution of programs is measured in continued success as well as in deeper penetration into the local, national, and international arenas. Only by defining the ideal situation for the program can we begin outlining the steps in order to accomplishment. This top down approach works in many ways. The main benefit, of course, is the ability to empower participants to pursue more freedom and creativity.

By first defining the desired outcome, we can best serve the participants. Eco-efficiency promotes the concept of minimizing exploitation of scarce resources. It also examines the synergy of the built environment with the natural environment. Lastly, eco-efficiency mandates that increased economic, environmental, and equity can be monetized. By understanding lifecycle and intrinsic principles on embodied value, it is possible to reach the anticipated goals of the program. "Establishing framework conditions which foster innovation and transparency and which allow sharing responsibility among stakeholders will amplify eco-efficiency for the entire economy and deliver progress toward sustainability" (2000). By avoiding the deliberate sanctioning of paralysis by analysis, we seek to execute vision and not toil over procedure.

Ideation

The manifestation of eco-efficiency in program delivery is an innovative solution to unexplored opportunities in the field. "Eco-efficiency is not limited simply to making incremental efficiency improvements in existing practices and habits. That is much too narrow a view. On the contrary, eco-efficiency should stimulate creativity and innovation in the search for new ways of doing things" (2000). In order to view the constraints of adoption of eco-efficiency, we will examine Michael Ben-Eli's five fundamental domains for sustainable development. The five domains (Ben-Eli, 2014) are:

The Material Domain: Constitutes the basis for regulating the flow of materials and energy that underlie existence.

The Economic Domain: Provides a guiding framework for creating and managing wealth.

The Domain of Life: Provides the basis for appropriate behavior in the biosphere.

The Social Domain: Provides the basis for social interactions.

The Spiritual Domain: Identifies the necessary attitudinal orientation and provides the basis for a universal code of ethics.

It is crucial at this stage to follow Ben-Eli's framework to ensure complicity with the underlying inherent principles of sustainability as describes in the five domains.

Domain One: The Material Domain

The intent of the first domain is to examine the use of eco-efficiency in terms of resources. Eco-efficiency "is not limited to achieving relative improvements in a company s use of resources and its prevention of pollution. It is much more about innovation and the need for change toward functional needs and service intensity, to contribute to de-coupling growth from resources" (2000). As the Technology Transfer program redefines its policies of its relationship with resource orientation, it can begin by measuring the consumption of not only its operations but also the embodied energy and matter in the delivery of its program. This examination of the flow of resources is comprehensive, but considerate of the many stakeholders and functions it actually serves.

Domain Two: The Economic Domain

In this next domain, we ask ourselves the question of bio-spheric pricing and business rationale for incorporating the eco-efficiency parameters of sustainability in the program environment. "The business case for eco-efficiency applies to every area of activity within a company - from eliminating risks and finding additional savings through to identifying opportunities and realizing them in the marketplace" (2000). This is a vital area of opportunity for the program. In what metrics can the true value of its efforts be accounted? Will a redefining of success be needed or will its stated objectives of commercializing academic projects suffice? Will the private sector permit the augmentation and redefining of economic value in its dealings with the institution? It would behoove both institutions to garner more of the true value not only in one-off interactions but also in long-term support for initiatives whether large financial rewards are part of the project. The ability to create such metrics would facilitate the recognition of this domain.

Domain Three: The Domain of Life

It is of particular importance to define the parameters of this domain. How could such a program exist if the value of all forms of life were sacrificed for material gain? Diversity is the desired outcome for the program. It requires little work to understand the power and influence that this program may have on people. When considering how to define measuring these values, it becomes a more difficult task.

The following chart reveals the correlation of economic value, quality of life, and environmental impact:

Governmental Measures and Objectives (2000, p. 25)

"Our argument is that, by adopting eco-efficient practices, it is possible to decouple these trends so that, as the dotted lines show, the economy and quality of life continue to rise while resource use and pollution fall away. Indeed, by reducing the pressure on natural resources and the environment we will actually magnify the improvement in the quality of life" (2000). This program has the real ability impact lives and should-as part of its purview consider how the monetization of academic projects not only will affect its institution, but also consider the impacts to its participants. Not only will this understanding help divert monies and resources where the really need to be, but perhaps help it the technical assistance its participants receive. This consideration also promotes the diversity the school mandates.

Domain Four: The Social Domain

The fourth domain helps expand the role and purpose of the program. By incorporating policy that ensures its participants are tolerant, believe in fundamental truths, practice inclusion, and scholarship, the program moves closer to realizing its real purpose. "All these thoughts reinforce the still fragile idea that open processes, responsive structures, plurality of expression, and the equality of all individuals ought to constitute the corner-stones of social life" (2014). When considering the existing body of work from the program, it becomes clear that no such opus is demanded or required. It would assist in the ascertainment of true value to explore this concept of personal value systems for proper alignment. Eco-efficiency describes, "In several economic sectors, considerable costs caused by environmental pollution and social damage are still not included in the price of goods and services. Until this is changed, the market will continue to send wrong signals and polluters will have no incentive to change and adapt the performance of their products and processes" (2000). Of all five domains, the opportunity for most substantive traction can occur here. By thinking more holistically about the metrics of reporting, the Technology Transfer program could make headway by implementing solution in this domain.

Domain Five: The Spiritual Domain

This last domain entails the reconciliation of love in the workplace. Oft seen as disparate concepts with zero chance of coexistence, we must find some broader universal label to encompass the idea. The concept of servant leadership can be viewed as a solution. Barbuto and Wheeler in their journal article Scale Development and Construct Clarification of Servant Leader reflect that, "The integration of servant leadership principles in practice has less to do with directing other people and more to do with serving their needs and in fostering the use of shared power in an effort to enhance effectiveness in the professional role" (2006, p. 425). Empathy is defined as "the intellectual identification with or vicarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another" (Dictionary.com/browse, 2014). A real opportunity exists to affect the spiritual being of the participants of the program. It would not need to a procedural policy but a social one. Servant leaders are more likely to be involved in a functional two-way transmission of energy and data. Not only do desired outcomes become more focused based on communication, but also the real success can then be measured in personal growth and actualization.

Implementation

As defined earlier, eco-efficiency promises leadership in structure and outcomes, it also offers a paradigm for stewardship in business relationships so collaboration can move forward. In terms of the program level examination, I have designed the following eco-efficient outcomes:

Use participant feedback and historic data to establish a decoupling point between the program participants and the program administrators for modification or enhancement to the EISGTTP/PIER.

Ascertain the criticality of sustainable practices within program delivery beyond funding mechanism into nontraditional economic evaluation

Several fundamental issues will be examined including the parameters of the change necessary to achieve stated program goals such as commercialization Outcomes and advancement of technology. We move from those goals to the reality of the outcomes, which measures the expansion of knowledge. This comparison would be deficient without consideration of secondary issues such as the recommendations to shape a more fulfilling program experience. Three layers of recommendations will be designed. The first layer consists of programmatic recommendations. The second layer is of non-programmatic recommendations. Lastly, we must include strategic recommendations to ensure the expansion of the accumulated body of knowledge.

I am undertaking a nine-step methodology in performing the examination for the program. The first step involves collecting technical data from the previous 13 years of the program. The next step will be to validate the data. Third step involves developing and stating a problem statement. The forth step involves conducting a root cause analysis. The fifth step involves correlating the data to the mission and vision of the program. The sixth step involves developing a corrective action plan (CAP) to mitigate, eliminate, or offset any discrepancies in the program. The seventh step analyzes the impacts of such recommendations. The eighth step involves coordinating stakeholders to share findings and receive feedback. The last step is to create a monitoring and reporting mechanism to introduce the traceability of future interactions with their clients.

In my definition of Ben-Eli's systems thinking and cybernetics, it is clear that one must consider external and internal environment interactions in systems or grouping of systems called networks. From this point, we must consider the "regulation, adaption, and evolution" of response as defined by cybernetics to understand the relationship of first order/stagnation or and second order metabolism/diffusion of change with either open loops or closed loops of feedback. With first order change, the response only manifests itself on a combination of five possible dimensions: material, economic, domain of life, social, and spiritual (Ben-Eli, The Cybernetics of Sustainability:Definition and Underlying Principles, 2012).

As I reflect on the five dimensions, it becomes possible to implement plan of action for the overall examination of the program. Dimension 1 asks us to consider the material impacts of the program. The second dimension looks at human development in economic analysis, which is particularly salient in discovering one of the implementation designs of viewing program and individual success in terms beyond traditional financial metrics. The third dimension ensures diversity and connectedness in sustainable development. The fourth dimension seeks liberation of the individual from a global perspective. Last, the fifth dimension asks us to link spiritually in the actions of the program.

The communication process in examining the program for eco-efficiency involves a complete stakeholder analysis including a specific metric for social impact. In traditional program management, a stakeholder is anyone who can affect or can influence the program's success or failure. The benefits of a clear communication plan include items such as management of uncertainty, scope, and change. When moving beyond the traditional definition of stakeholder, we seek the feedback of the community. As Edwards stated, "The Sustainability and Community principles encompass all the Three Es (ecology, economy, and equity) because they grapple with difficult problems whose long-term solutions require a systemic approach" (2010, p. 29).

The next issue to consider is the amount of education or training required to install a program-wide expectation of continuous learning. This issue is critical since as Orr told us, "Even if humans were able to learn more rapidly, the application of fast knowledge generates complicated problems much faster than we identify them and respond" (2011, p. 282). The institution of a set of best practices mandating a constant appraisal of worldviews while extending program benefits into long-term outcomes.

For guidance in the framework, we can seek guidance from a myriad of sources. One such resource is found in the data generated from other Program audits, reviews, and detailed annual reports of various technology university transfer offices, such as the Performance Audit of the Arizona's Universities by the Arizona Office of the Auditor General, Report 08-02, May, 2008 and the Report of the Purdue University Office of Technology Commercialization, 2010. It is fundamental to use parametric information derived from experiences. By leveraging the compiled information, knowledge can then be extracted as best practices.

In the final structure of program examination, the importance of conveying the recommendations must be created. "To change the system so that it is sustainable and manageable" (2004, p. 3048), it is imperative to coalesce efforts of reduce redundancies while adhering to founding principles not of just the program but also to the tenants of eco-efficiency and sustainable development at large. With no procedural instruction, the malaise inherent to the human condition may diminish the productivity of environmental, economic, and social well-being of program participants. This task provides the prescriptive framework forward.

Conclusion

Time is of the essence. Let us focus on a deeper understanding of purpose and outcomes as the EISGTTP program manifests itself into a true value-bearing conduit. Overall, by acknowledging the constraint on resources, the possible monetization of non-traditional metrics, and focusing on people, we can create a better program. The level of change could systemically unfold by constantly seeking input from the external environment and just the internal view perpetually held in terms of success or failure. The program presents an opportunity to meld many desirable elements: technology, sustainability, and people.

5 Healthy Heart Strategies

In this nation, one of the leading health risks, is heart - related. Many people suffer from, either, high or low - blood pressure, cholesterol - related issues, heart murmurs, artery - related issues (such as hardening of arteries), etc. When one considers, the best strategies, from early - on, instead of waiting until, he is symptomatic, he is, proactively, acting, to ensure a better chance for health, and happiness. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, 5 basic, healthy heart strategies, which might enhance our overall health, and well - being.

1. Diet and exercise: A well - designed, diet and exercise program, and plan, when used in conjunction, with regular visits, to a trusted, health professional, is a significant strep, in an overall preventative program. Before embarking on any specific approach, it is wise, to consult your doctor, and follow his advice, in this area, in order to use the best approach, for you!

2. Check - ups: Instead of procrastinating, and avoiding doctor's visits, a regular, thorough, check - up, often, creates the basis for cardiac health. When one recognizes, and addresses, potential health issues, proactively, any issue, has the greatest opportunity of being recognized and treated, before it becomes a more serious concern!

3. Prevention: Perhaps, more than, in nearly any other aspect of life, health and well - being, an ounce of prevention, pays for itself, repeatedly! Many times, these discover, early - warning signs, and, when addressed, enhance heart health, in a very real and significant way. Preventative medicine, in this area, comes from a combination of appropriate exercise, the right dietary habits and diet, and regular visits to one's health professional!

4. Early - warning signs: When one becomes aware of some of the potential early - warning signs, and proceeds, wisely, proactively, and in consultation with his doctor, the potential for better, overall, health and well - being, is, often, exponentially, improved and enhanced!

Seniors Who Require Constant Nursing Attention Yet Not Hospitalization Benefit From Nursing Homes

What Exactly is a Nursing Home?

More than ten percent of seniors at present really need more assistance than what home health aide and family caregivers can provide. All of them require 24 hour support which may never be found in assisted living centers or independent living facilities. At this point a nursing home becomes the solution. The elderly enter these nursing home facilities due to the referral from their families and friends in addition to their physicians.

A nursing home facility is the place seniors are provided continuous care by skilled nurses. Although, most of these elderly patients require thorough health care, it might not be essential to place them inside a healthcare facility.

Family members may have several factors as to why they must place their loved one into a nursing home, including continuous incontinence, because of a medical condition, and some seniors could have terminal illnesses or memory conditions for instance Alzheimer's and dementia.

Families normally decide to put their family member into a nursing home simply because they know their family member is going to get the best care and attention. Nursing homes are managed by qualified caregivers, licensed Nursing aides, registered practical nurses, and CNAs. All are authorized to administer medication needs. Also, each individual will have a designated medical team to tend to all of their needs, including physical therapists, a dietician, social workers, case managers, nurses, and doctors.

There are many points to consider before placing your family member inside a nursing home. It is vital that every one of their demands is attained in addition to the needs of their caregivers.

Senior Nursing Homes

Normally, many people have the notion that when an individual goes into a nursing home, they can usually never leave the facilities. This is because nursing homes provide long lasting custodial care, which can be perfect for families or home caregivers who might no longer be able to look after their elderly family member. Now, only a few percent of these seniors fall under this group.

A large number of elderly patients are put into nursing homes soon after their hospitalization. Usually, Medicare wouldn't cover nursing home care beyond approximately 23 days stay. They don't provide coverage for the long-term stay. They solely cover rehabilitation prior to transferring them home.

Additionally, Medicare also does not cover Section 8 housing bill, long-term assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, and in-home care. Thus, for those who do not have private insurance, they might talk with Medicaid for full or partial coverage.

Medicaid is offered to seniors and elderly patients who may have fixed earnings. Nonetheless, they might just finance nursing homes in which a senior shares a room together with some other senior or have them put into a wide open Medicaid ward. Generally, families place their seniors to nursing homes for treatment purposes as soon as they become hospitalized.

Elderly Nursing Homes

An elderly nursing home is typically the last home where seniors are put. There are many facts to consider when choosing your senior's nursing homes, which include their financial plans, the way they provide comprehensive care and attention, and the nursing home's track record.

Method of payment must be checked out because not all private insurances as well as Medicare would cover for care plans. With regards to the care offered, make sure that your loved ones only are cared for by licensed and professional medical staff. You may consider this through neighbor's and friend's recommendations.

In Home Nursing

For families who may need to offer a nursing home service to their love one, but would not wish to place them within a long term care facility, in home nursing services is perfect. There, seniors and the elderly gets to live comfortably as independently as can be, while acquiring the appropriate personal and health care.

Nursing Home Services

Nursing home services offer thorough care and attention for our elders and seniors. Medicaid features a few facilities as opposed to those which are privately funded. Therefore, it is important that you simply additionally check out various services to provide the very best care for your elders.

Saving History with Audio Transfer and Conversion

It's almost become an uphill battle to keep up with audio technology. It wasn't long ago we thought being able to walk around with a portable Discman was as good as it could get but it didn't take companies long before digital files and music hit mainstream. With the rapid changes in technology, home users and even businesses are forced to make changes to their equipment and get old formats transferred over to the new technology in order to maintain archives and other recordings.

We often think of music when talking about transferring audio - taking those old LP's or 8-tracks, even cassette tapes, and transferring them into digital format. There's a professional world out there that relies on audio however, and audio restoration and transfer services are extremely important to them; some have history hanging by a magnetic thread.

Documenting History

Before digital recordings and even simple cassette tapes, the most common method for recording information was the reel to reel recorder. Portable models were made to take on interviews and into the field. It is these portable recorders that hung around important events; now stashed away on magnetic reels in museum archives.

Military campaigns with reporters in tow have been documented on old formats. Old western Indian languages from times long past rest quietly entombed on equipment that is now obsolete and in danger of decay. Presidential elections, rallies, political movements and speeches and important radio broadcasts are just a few pieces in our complex history that will one day need to be transferred and potentially restored so that others can enjoy and remember.

While there is historical and political importance to transferring audio, there's professional and legal interest as well. Shows like CSI and Law and Order show us cases closed and settled in a matter of days but our legal system does not work that way. Some cases take months, even years, and there are cold case files being reopened from ages ago. In long running cases, audio transfer is sometimes needed where there are cassettes with dictation and recorded conversations, as well as with older media like reel to reel interrogation recordings.

Step back from the Hollywood-esque look at audio and you will see an academic world that is in dire need of audio transfer. Many universities have lectures, seminars, and conferences stored on old, aging media. Events where key speakers shared ground breaking information will have to be transferred over to new digital formats if the throngs of new students and academics are to benefit from them.

Restoring the Past

The problem with older formats is that they are just that - they're old. With every day that passes, these older formats succumb to the environment around them. Components oxidize and begin to decay. Tape loses moisture and becomes brittle. Much older recordings on master LP's or wax cylinders can break or crack if mishandled. Even the dust in the air can damage the audio.

Audio restoration is a part of audio transfer and while it's not necessary in many cases it can help to clean up the hiss, hum, and crackle that often come from aging (or even new) analog recordings. The hissing, pops, crackles and other events that are unnatural can sometimes be downplayed or removed through digital remastering and restoration.

Of course that's not to say that audio restoration can fix damaged audio. If an old recording is so garbled and damaged that it's unintelligible, it's not likely to be fixed (certainly not easily) with modern software. Unfortunately audio restoration in the real world doesn't work quite like some of the things Hollywood has shown us.

Documentation with Restoration and Audio Transfer

It is often a benefit to have the information and audio transcribed. In some cases this might involve translation depending on the source language. A script may seem unnecessary but for aged audio that is garbled or somewhat unintelligible, a professional transcription agency may be able to dissect the audio enough to reason out the dialogue. Likewise, a script can give you a permanent look into the audio so if that data were to be damaged or corrupted, the information would still be maintained in writing for later use.

As we launch new technology, even the digital files we use now will gradually become obsolete. From analog Reel to Reel, to vinyl and cassettes, and on to digitally stored audio we will continue to transfer data as long as there is a need to preserve and maintain that audio which is important to us, for whatever reason.

Inbound vs. Outbound Telemarketing Services

Technology has changed the way companies do business. Companies can now easily reach consumers by launching targeted online pay per click campaigns and market via social media. While this hands off approach has helped business become more efficient, outbound telemarketing continues to be a great way to reach prospects and get them to take action. Business process outsourcing services have been a direct beneficiary of technology. BPO call centers have grown across the globe as a means to provide affordable services to companies in locations where labor is expensive. Savvy business owners can harness this new technology and continue the tried and true practice of generating sales through outbound telemarketing. Call centers around the world now provide companies with a way to implement B2C, B2B telemarketing, and appointment setting services at a low cost. To launch an effective outsourcing campaign, you must first decide your approach. Decide whether you want to utilize inbound telemarketing, outbound telemarketing, or a virtual assistant who can fill multiple roles.

Inbound Telemarketing

Most people think of inbound telemarketing as the same thing as customer support. Inbound telemarketing is slightly different than customer service in that it involves the telemarketer in the sales process. Customer service typically requires a representative to answer questions on behalf of an existing customer. In recent years, lenders have done a particularly good job outsourcing mortgage telemarketing services. Typically, the lender will generate leads online, and the telemarketer will handle inbound inquiries. The telemarketing representative will answer basic mortgage related questions, and set up an appointment with the prospect and the loan officer.

Outbound Telemarketing

Outbound telemarketing involves the telemarketer cold calling prospects who are not expecting a call. The first step to launching an outbound telemarketing campaign is to define your market. Once you have determined exactly who you are trying to reach, put together a telemarketing list for your telemarketer to call. If you don't have a database of target prospects, you can buy a list from a third party. There are many companies who can provide a list of contacts based upon parameters you define. The next step would be to write a script. Customize a short script that will help your telemarketer effectively promote your products or services to your target market. Determine whether your campaign will be B2B or B2C. Business to business campaigns typically involve the telemarketer getting past a secretary, or gatekeeper. If your project is B2B, your script will have to incorporate a "getting past the gatekeeper" element. Send the script to your telemarketer and have him practice overcoming potential objections. Set up a phone call to role play the script with your telemarketer. This will give you your first idea of how the telemarketer will sound on the phone. If there are any stumbling points, refine your script to make it sound better. Once you have completed the script, have your telemarketer call prospects for a day or two, and see how it goes. Check back in with your telemarketer, and get some feedback. Find out what kind of objections they are hearing and continue to refine the script accordingly

Telemarketers or Virtual Assistants?

Some entrepreneurs have hired virtual assistants through call centers overseas. This can be advantageous to companies that need a variety of services to performed in addition to telemarketing. Outsourced virtual assistants can handle appointment setting, data entry, inbound telemarketing (customer service), and outbound telemarketing. Determine what role you want your virtual assistant to play for your organization prior to launching your project. Your call center service provider may have different requirements for telemarketer than they do virtual assistants, so it is important to define their role in advance. Typically, a telemarketer will have superb voice skills, but may be lacking in written communication. Tell your service provider if your project will require a lot of data entry and email marketing so they hire the right employee for your company.
